Woe is my computer and I
2007-03-18, 5:30 PM #1
On average, my computer seems to crash to blue screen or freeze every 1-2 hours these days.

I just had to restart the computer after trying to start up AvP, and when i tried to restart windows, it immediately came up with blue screen, and wouldnt restart.

Going into safe mode, even that behaved strangely, it was very very slow.

Got it working again, but i think i'm gonna have to start backing up or something cos this 4 yr old beaut is on her last legs.:gbk:

Annoyingly, i promised myself i'd buy a new computer with the rent money i secretly didnt pay my landlord (he's a tool, and very disorganised), but decided instead ...to spend it all on some new clothes, and lots of booze and going out.

To that end, I'm also suffering a 48 hr hang over :( 1/6 of an absynthe bottle with red bull really doesnt make one healthier. :(

If i had any sense, i'd save up for a mac, but then i'd have to kiss bye bye to JK editing and fruityloops.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

New ones dual boot with windows - you can have the best of both worlds as long as you have a copy of XP kicking about.

Since you spelled it wrong, I'm going to assume it's a cheap knock off brand. So I don't have to get upset for you drinking it wrong.

It's a perfectly legitimate spelling.

...

Absinthe is absinthe.

Kind of like how not everything in the US called Champagne is actually Champagne.

You're supposed to pour it through ice.
Wikissassi sucks.

By AvP do you mean Aliens vs Predator? If so, I've had tons of problems trying to get it to work under XP, and with certain video cards, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the game's fault and not your PCs.

Get the mac and dual boot.

Sort of.

You can pack shaved ice around a sugar cube on a spoon and do it.

I actually like that way better, because you get to watch the louge, AND the drink is usually made quicker.

Most often I use the ice water over sugar method. I want to get one of those crystal droppers you put over the glass, that you put sugar and ice in, it's way easier than trying to do it with the spoon.

I'm pretty sure he has a better chance of getting absinthe than you do Rob. It's not illegal where he lives :P

I have real jade absinthe, from the combier distillery. Which is run by Ted Breaux, a chemical engineer from New Orleans. (New Orleans was the American Absinthe mecha) Who came across a real vintage bottle from before the ban, and ran analysis on it to determine it's exact chemical makeup and created a fairly (Read very) accurate recipe based on the data culled.

Actually, Ted also found that thujone content of absinthe is negligable. You'd die of alcohol poisoning before you'd trip off of thujone, which in large doses is a neurotoxin anyways.

Also, Absinthe is not totally illegal. It's kind of a huge grey area.

I encourage all of you to read more. Especially the following links;

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.11/absinthe.html <---- Article/interview with Ted Breaux. Very informative.

http://www.feeverte.net/faq-absinthe.html#B <-------- Absinthe buyers guide essential FAQ. Also a good place for reviews on modern brands. Ted Breaux has been known to post on their forums.

http://www.absintheonline.com <----- Liquers de France. Hands down the easiest people to deal with when you consider ordering, or if you would like more information. Also a good place for crystal glasses and spoons. They cary Jade Absinthes by Ted Breaux, as well as many other varieties. I would consult the buying guide for reviews before you spend any money though.

Back to the OT for just a second... Run memtest86 - could be a memory problem.
2007-03-19, 8:49 PM #19
Or it could, you know, be Windows 98 becoming progressively more unstable as time goes on. You know, that thing it's well known for doing.

Mmm, I *was* going to suggest upgrading to a 'real' os... :P
