I can't for the life of me find a cable like this:

Except it's S-Video on the other end instead of composite. (and 25 feet) My TV has S-Video in, and damnit, I wanna watch my computer on the telly with S-Video goodness. :argh:

That's like the 5th website I've been to (showmecables.com), surely someone here has a cable like that, and can point me to the website they got it from. :)

I can't seem to find anything exactly like you want, but monoPrice has very good products for cheap. This cable plus this adapter should do what you want.

Christ, all you need is an S-video cable and a 1/8 to RCA cable like what used to be supplied with every Discman ever made.

Christ, if only Sony wasn't so damn cheap and made it 24 feet longer. :downswords:

I'm looking for one long cable (omgz 25 feet) with the connections 'built in' so I'm not using adapters and squeezing out the best quality I can.

Thanks for the link Emon, they're much better priced than the site I was looking at. :)

Hmm... Since s-video doesn't carry sound, I wonder if they are even making cables like that. You could always buy a standard s-video cable and an audio cable of the same length. A cable with s-video and audio would have separate plugs at both ends anyway, so basically it's two separate things attached to each other in any case.

Here in Europe with the scart it's a different story, and you can find cables with s-video+audio / scart in any random shop that sells video related cables at all.

i have my old comp hooked up to the tv. i used the s-video to composite dongle that came with the ati video card i bought. i also had one from radio shack. $15.99CDN.
i bought a 1/8 jack to composite dongle and i have the sound card out to the amp in the living room.
sweet computer stuff on the tv.

i've seen s-video extensions. male on one end and female on the other. >$20CDN.

IS there any way to for an old [mine] comp with no special S-Video output [Just a normal monitor output] to connect to a tv?

Wait...isn't it the other way around? Composite on the other end instead of s-video. The Green connector goes into your soundcard, the black one is an S-Video connector that goes into your graphics card, and the Red/White/Yellow connectors are composite Left Audio/Right Audio/Video connectors going to the TV, correct?

Buy an old TV Out card for 20 bucks.

And now for the REALLY hard question; how do you convert DVI or VGA output to component video?

I've been trying to do this for over 2 years now; no success yet.

No offense but that statement was extremely :downswords:

You could chain thirty adapters together and they will have absolutely no audible effect on the sound. For the most part, as long as an audio cable is well built, it's as good as any other. Video cables are more finicky because they carry much higher frequencies, but the same rule still applies.

Just use the adapter and be done with it. I doubt you will find another solution other than making one yourself.

Depends on your TV.

This if your TV has S-Video or composite input.

If you want RF input, then the above combined with this.

Newer TVs have either VGA or DVI in, and you can easily find a VGA to DVI converter if need be.

I got a new HDTV a little while ago with VGA input (as well as HDMI and component), so look for that.

Yes I actually have one of those; sadly when it says "This adapter is designed with an ATI chipset", it means that nVidia cards are out of luck.
