Getting music from the iPod to iTunes
2007-03-18, 7:57 PM #1
Hey my iPod has a problem with it, and I need to get the music off of it onto my computer so I can wipe it and restore the default settings to fix it. Now, nothing about this is illegal, all the music on my iPod was stored on my old computer which got wiped clean. I just don't know how to get it onto my new computer. I've tried myTunes, but for some reason all that does it let you put music onto your computer from other computers in a shared network, not from your iPod. And no, buying a new iPod is not an option.

Pretty sure http://ilounge.com/ has some articles on this. It's obviously a very common question.

ephPod does so (Winamp with the ml_iPod plugin might do it as well)

I know WinAmp has native support for iPods - and there's a button to copy media off of it (in the Media Library, under Portable Devices). I've not tried it, though.

Unless you get actual software that you buy at the store (I've done a lot of searching and researching for a free one but couldn't find one), then you're not going to have any luck. I bought a nifty little program called PodRescue from Circuit City a few months ago for only $15.00. It pulls the songs off your ipod, and converts them back to mp3 files, or other files of your choice, or it can directly import the songs back into iTunes, and keep your album settings, playlists, ect.

That'd be good. I'll look for it. Hell of a lot better than either losing all my music and paying for it again or paying $200 for a new iPod. :)

You could put your ipod in disk mode and save everything to it.

Keep checking google. You don't have to spend a dime. I know this for a fact. I don't have the liberty of doing the search for it right now, but I know programs exist for this purpose.

Hmmm? Did someone say something? Something like effPod? Sounds vulgar and crude.

(I'll look it up. ;))

Um, how do I do that? Where are the music files located?

Btw, ephPod didn't work, it didn't recognize my iPod either.
