Jalapenos, especially fresh, homegrown ones can be EXTREMELY spicy--as the chart shows, on par with habaneros. For the most part, to me, they're a bit tangy though :p

I've had ones right out of the garden. Am I missing something? I wouldn't call them anywhere near Habaneros.

Not all jalapenos that are grown are going to be uberspicy. You have to nurture them in a special way, also.

We used to grow jalapenos and habaneros in a small garden in our back yard. The habs were freakin hot, we rarely used them for anything.

One time my dad was cutting up some jalapenos without gloves on. He took his contacts out a little while later and went to bed....

He was in for a shock when he put his contacts back in the next morning;)
