I want to reformat my HD and all that stuff, but I have a couple of quick questions before I start:

1. Does XP Pro have a built in HD format proggy, or do I need to scrounge up a copy of fdisk somewhere?

2. Should I pull my video card first, or does it matter? It's a GeForce 7950.

[Ah, I remembered the second question.]

1. If you install it from the disk on bootup, it'll ask you to format the partition it will be installed on.
2. Uh, you planning on installing it blind? Of course you should leave it in.

Silly rabbit. I forgot to mention that the mobo has onboard video, which is reactivated when the vid card is pulled. You were supposed to read my mind.

Question #3: Anything I need to do with Steam before the format? I haven't reinstalled XP before, and haven't ever done a reinstall with Steam present either.

Copy all the GCF files in the SteamApps/ folder to a separate drive before formatting.

Don't worry Tiberium, he knows what a format means.

Five hours of hl1? Please. You can beat hl1 in less than two hours.
Wikissassi sucks.

Nope. Didn't keep any HL savegames. The only savegames I kept were for CoD2, because I'm not done playing it yet.

Btw, my PC seems much speedier now. When I installed XP the first time a couple of years ago, I fiddled around with the Windows Services, and never was able to set them all back to the defaults. Ever since, everytime I turned the computer on, it would freeze up for a few seconds right after booting. Anyway, doesn't do that anymore, and I'm glad.

Clean installs make me feel... like breaking out in a song!

All the Winders updates were a pain in the ascii, though. My copy of windows XP is SP1. According to the Update History, I installed close to 120 updates to Windows and Office together.
