Unexpected Shutdown... wtf?

I came to my new computer a little while ago to find it at the boot screen prompting to enter a system disk because it couldn't find anything to boot from.
I restarted it from there and i saw that it didn't detect my hard drive in SATA channel 1. I shut it down, opened it up and checked all the connections for the hard drive, all looked fine. I hook everything back up and it boots correctly.

I took a look in the system logs and there is nothing suspicious there, all it was was the system shut down at 1:23 PM, and restarted at 6:22 PM. Any ideas what could have caused this? I doubt it's overheating because I have sufficient cooling, 2 case fans, CPU fan, PSU fan, and the graphics card fan. Is there any way I can get more detailed information about why it crashed?

When the power here would flicker, just long enough to force a shutdown and boot instantly, mobo wouldn't detect my SATA drive, either. But I could just shut it off for a few seconds, then turn it back on normal. But I've got a UPS now, so that's not an issue anymore.

Check your temps with Speedfan. Could be a power flicker...our electricity isn't the best in this town, and it IS the beginning of AC season, which could cause a brownout if the power company's not prepared.

Could just be a fluke. It happens.

Only 3 possibilities:

A. What the others said.
B. Your PC is possessed.
C. You have a fan rattling so horribly that it's shaking your PC to pieces.

Or you could, you know... NOT LEAVE IT ON 24/7.

Only burgerboys waste energy like that.
Wikissassi sucks.

Or people who are downloading, doing folding@home (lol curing cancer, what kind of ******* does that), enjoy having lengthy uptimes (helps to diagnose problems if they persist, actually, before they become too bad), don't like restarting because the most stress your PC ever goes under is on restart, or just...like having their computer on?

Seriously, if you're not paying for the power, why do you care?
