Hrmm, I still to play Guitar Hero/see anyone buy it. But can I point one thing out?

Quote:
Expected in stores for the year-end holidays, the Electronic Arts game (no price set) for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 will be played with four instrument-based video game controllers: two guitars (lead and bass), a drum kit and a microphone.

Rock Band "takes the core premise of Guitar Hero and expands it tenfold,"

Surely that's only fourfold?
nope.

Guitar hero copied DDR... and now this is copying Guitar Hero?

This seems stupid. Guitar hero was cool because there is nothing cooler than playing the wicked guitar solo, and they made it easy and accessible.

You either suck at singing or you don't, you can't glamorize the singer, you can't glamorize the drummer. And the bass is just boring.

Bass is boring? Tell that to Flea.
Think while it's still legal.

I think he means all the bass pieces they selected.

Bass seems to come in two flavors.

Insanely cool McImpossible to play, and boring.

Timed button mashing has been in games since Tetris.

I liked Guitar Hero, then I picked up an actual guitar. Now I can't stand it.

And players need not be together to jam. "You could have one guitarist in Germany and another one in Texas, a drummer in New York and a singer from somewhere else, and they can play together online," EA's David DeMartini says.
Somehow I don't see this working well due to lag.

and...

Hardly, Rob. Some of the best bass lines are very simple, but they're good because they fit the groove of the song.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

But boring in games like Guitar Hero 2, only a handful of the songs had bass that was fun to play.

A game like this will work well when you have four people playing together at the same time in the same place.

Simple bass lines can be fun so long as you "feel" the music I guess. And by simple, I don't mean chugging along on the root note of a chord.

nope.

It can groove all it wants.

Strumming the same three notes 50 ****ing times in a row is not what I call fun.

if that is all a bass player is doing... they probably are not that good. what the hell am i talking about even the worst bass player i know does more than that.
i mean the bass CAN be boring, but if the player has any talent then it usually isn't.
and what the hell! if your going to go through the trouble of learning and playing in a full band on a game console... why not just start a real one?
Welcome to the douchebag club. We'd give you some cookies, but some douche ate all of them. -Rob
