Massassi PDA Theme
2007-04-17, 5:52 PM #1
I'm currently working on a Massassi PDA theme. I am trying to maintain the Massassi Standard look while reducing all the features and having it fit a smaller screen.

As of right now the theme fits very well on the PSP's screen, but there's a lot I'd still like to cut out.

So the purpose of this thread is to ask you all what you wouldn't mind parting with on a PDA theme:

Last Post info on forums and threads
Thread/post counts on forum page.
Thread icons
Quick Reply box (or remove the reply button and only use quick reply)
All the crap at the bottom of thread listings, individual thread pages, and the forum main page. This includes posting rules and such.
Most of the javascript functions that simply don't work on PDAs.

If you all have other suggestions too thats cool.

Finally, if you guys can post what resolution your PDAs run in, that'd be really helpful.

this is awesome.

my MDA resolution is: 240 x 320

Don't really have any suggestions though.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

How do you know your PDA's res?

I'd prefer as textual, aka non-graphical as possible. Also, would it be hard to make an Olive version?

But olive is totally wrong.

I could make an olive version I guess, but one step at a time.

As far as images, the biggest images on the theme right now are the Post New Topic images. Everything else is those tiny quote, edit and other buttons.

Well I think it displays in the settings somewhere.. But I just looked it up online.

[was that a general question or directed to me specifically?]

I just use quickreply, so I wouldn't mind getting rid of the Reply button. Also, previous and next thread can go too.

Less page swapping would be best, so quick reply makes sense.

I'm using a Treo 700wx at 240x240.

If you make this I will love you forever and ever.

Man, I haven't used my PDA since I got a laptop.

Another 240x320 sucker here.

Ew, 240? That's gonna be cramped, heh.

Would it kill you all if I moved the Poster's name, title, and hex count to the top of the person's post, rather than on the side?

Right now that's what eats the most space. :/

it would probably be best that way yes

Fine with me. My main concern would be to avoid side-scrolling as much as possible while maintaining pertinent information. Heck you could even do away with peoples' postcounts entirely for all I care. I can always check that from home.

I agree with Vegiemaster, that's all we need. It would load quickly and show easily. BTW, my screen is 320x240 - Blackjack.

The hardest part will be moving the username and crap back above the post, since Brad did a pretty big hack job to get it the other way. :p

What's the res of that little thing's screen anyway? If it's smaller than 240 wide, then it's just gonna have to suck it up. :p

I'm sure it's pretty decent. I have it sitting here right now and it looks bigger than 240. It can be turned on it's side though, for a taller screen, and you can zoom in to stuff, so I guess it's not that bad.
