Apparently tattoos, piercings, and implants are not enough, as people are resorting to scarification. Now, this certainly isn't new, but it's becoming more popular and accepted.

Scarification is very important in African and I think some Oceania cultures.

I would never do it though.

I've seen that guy on TV. He wants to look like some sort of large feline (tiger, jaguar, something along those lines).

He's an idiot.

Eeeehhhh. My back feels weird now.

I knew a girl who was into it during highschool. She did it for attention. . .she was pretty stupid.

This coming just after I found out my ten-year old cousin has had her ear pierced. She'll be a scarred cat-person by the time she's 15! :(
2007-04-19, 12:55 PM #9
Bah, girls getting their ears pierced is nothing. My sister had hers done when she was 3.

Okay, I'll admit that the finished product looks cool. But why not just get a tattoo with red ink? I guess I'll just never understand the mentality of someone who would do this.

What about that leopard guy who tattooed like 98% of his body?

I'd say that's 10 times freakier than this.

I actually think its kinda cool. I mean, I'd NEVER get a tatoo or do that. It doesn't disgust me, though. Almost looks better than a tatoo.
2007-04-19, 4:46 PM #28
my god that looks rediculously painful..

I imagine it's way more dangerous too.

sickening.

I'm almost tempted to say that looks fairly cool (the finished product)... but if I wanted something like that I'd just get it tattooed on rather than have my flesh ripped off... or at least do it on a much... much much much much smaller scale... like pin pricks, but then it wouldn't really scar over so I just wouldn't do it.

I saw a black woman at work once with smallish circular burns/scars arranged in a design all over her face. It was shocking at first but strangely beautiful.

I will laugh if she dies of some disease she contracted by having a large chunk of her skin carved away.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

My brother lives in Euqatorial Guinea at the moment and many people he works with are from tribes that do scarring. Every tribe has individual marks.
He asked a friend who is also scarred if his son will get scars, too.
His answer: "Whaaat? No way, that ****ing **** hurts like hell!"
Sorry for the lousy German

Fancy, involving, but absolutely useless. Getting skin scraped off every 3 years - assuming your health is good and it starts healing, but you want to keep the scar looking good - isn't that great for you either.

Recently, I've met a lot of people who are into body modification and such. It's an interesting little world. My one friend got something like this done to his face - he got a third eye design or something. Most the people in this body mod group, including my boyfriend ( >_<;; ) are very much into branding (the traditional fashion.) The thing I've notice is they all have a very spiritual drive (or a very solid life-changing reason) to go through with this. Like I said, it's an interesting group.

I bet it doesn't hurt as much as having your nipple accidentally pierced by a safety pin while your co-worker is trying to pin a VT ribbon on your chest.

You do not know pain!

I told her not to stab like that.
Wikissassi sucks.

Scarification is iffy because, unless you take perfect care of it when it's healing and never ever pick the scabs, it'll scar all lumpy and bumpy and unevenly puffy.

Not my sorta thing but I've seen some very pretty healed ones before on www.bmezine.com
