I voted "lol wut?" because both were awesome performances and I refuse to pit them against each other.

While V was good, Vader actually nailed Natalie Portman, so Vader wins.

Apart from the fact its comparing two actors doing what they do.

And saying that, Star Wars aint exactly famous for its amazing actors and dialogue.

I refuse to choose. They both did what they did so well.

In terms of range of performance, V wins. Vader is in the realm of classic though, so it would be hard for V to compete. But I voted for V.

V had some neat poetic monologues, but Vader had the presence. Jones >> Weaving

James Earl Jones easily.
2007-04-24, 7:47 AM #14
Very odd poll, I'm gonna go with Vader though.

(If it had been Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader I wouldn't have voted for him)

Well, Jones voiced Vader when Christensen was in the suit...
Sorry for the lousy German

Only for a few minutes in one movie, though.

Yet Jones had the worst line (or shout, really) of them all in it, but that's George Lucas's fault.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

James Earl Jones.

V for Vendetta was just plain autistic/

I keep reading this thread as V is for Vader

Darth Vader.

V talked way the hell too much. His "V" monologue toward the beginning was annoying. In fact, he had too many monologues.

Both actors nailed their parts, but Vader had a presence with his voice.

(If you don't understand why I'm comparing them, it's because both actors had to rely almost entirely on their voices, and in V's case, body language.)
2007-04-24, 11:55 AM #24
oh, I went for the usual character battle thing.
acting wise.. I'd probably go for V, but it would be a close call.

slightly off topic but I hear Hugo is going to be doing Megatron's voice in the upcoming transformers.

Hugo Weaving kinda had cooler lines... so I give him my vote.... plus he killed more people in one movie than vader did in 6.

Are you counting blowing up Alderaan? Cus I think that has to count somehow, even if you only give him a fraction...

Vader didn't blow up Alderaan. Tarkin did.

Also, it depends on if you count Sand People as People.

(But episodes 1-3 don't count for this poll, dammit!)
2007-04-24, 11:07 PM #37
Darth Vader was played by David Prowse. He was voiced by James Earl Jones.
2007-04-24, 11:09 PM #38
They would not have blown up Alderaan specifically had Vader not captured Leia. He had a hand in it.

Your point?

Prowse was doing the "acting", not James Earl Jones.
