found hell march recently. made me think of bad soviet accents and "construction complete. new construction options"

[mp3]http://compuball.com/av/audio/HellMarch.mp3[/mp3]

on another note, does anyone know how to run red alert on win xp?

Ah yes, Frank Klepacki for the mother****ing win.

Building! Construction complete! New construction options! Cannot deploy here! Training! *pow pow* The base is under attack! Unit lost! A-Bomb prepping, A-Bomb launch detected! Battle control, terminated!

Ah the memories... I mostly played skirmish tactics though. They were awesomely fun, especially with Klepacki's music.

And Red Alert runs fine on XP for me, yet I've only tested First Decade version ... and some stripped version a few years back, but it's not on the net anymore.

was just playing this the other day. Love :D

Btw, the easy way to run red alert + other old C&C games would to get gametap. iirc, they have Red Alert and C&C, and are working on Tiberium Sun

<3 Red Alert. The sequel was fun, but it wasn't quite the same.

I love all the CnC music. My favourite track is Act on Instinct from the original. They used to have a load of decent quality MP3 files on ftp.westwood.com but that seems to be down now :(

frank klepacki's site has the track i think, but you can only stream it through the flash front end (like myspace's music player)

Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I have the soundtrack for the game. Not really nostalgic for me as it is just good music that I occasionally listen to. Red Alert runs well under XP with the help of Google. There's a fix out there to get it running. No need for any gimmicks.

I just thought of something... did the term Red Alert origionate from the Red Scare?
2007-04-26, 8:21 PM #10
Duh. Soviets=Reds
Or it could just be named after the general "Omgz under attack!" which is also knows as red alert.

What is "Red Scare"?

I thought Red Alert meaning OMG COMMIE ALERT was kind of obvious, and then again there's also a book.

Anyhoo...

Yes, but I once spent time finding out what files the player uses and found out that they were flash files, so I downloaded them all (at least all the C&C ones there were back then, dunno if there are any new ones now) and converted to mp3.

Kind of a shame they're just 128Kbps, though.

If you have the game, there are utilities that can extract all the music from the container files. They're WAV format if I remember right, but those are easily converted.

I played that game nonstop for the longest time. I still play it every now and then. I got it running under XP just by installing the latest update patch for it (something like 1.49, it's been awhile, I don't remember) and running RA95.exe.

The The First Decade version of Red Alert works flawlessly on XP.
