If you can calculate as fast as a graphical calculator in your head then yay for you, personally I dont want to waste precious exam time on something I could have done with 3 clicks.

A person shouldn't get a house unless he's totally inept at dwelling. He shouldn't get a car unless he's totally inept at moving from place to place. He shouldn't get a pen unless he's totally inept at writing. He shouldn't get food unless he's totally inept at eating. He shouldn't get air unless he's totally inept at breathing...

Did I miss something?

You pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I can't picture him being capable of any of those things either. Especially driving.

There isn't anything on the SAT that requires a graphing calculator. You can get by fine with a regular one if you know how to do the math.

To celebrate reaching four weeks of not smoking, I bought the following:

Pink Floyd - Pulse DVD
Pulse poster
Dark Side of the Moon poster
Wish You Were Here poster

I was originally only looking for the DVD, but the posters were on offer (3 for £9.99).

Are you not into Pink Floyd? Or is it just that the DVD isn't that great?

I'm just in a bit of a Pink Floyd kick at the moment, having found some of the older albums and David Gilmour's solo work, so I thought I'd check it out. Plus I thought the Dire Straits - On The Night DVD was brilliant, so I figured I'd add another concert to my DVD collection.

Oh, and I'm fascinated by pretty lights :D

The dvd just wasn't that good.

Meanwhile, back in reality, people are using their calculators for applications ever so slightly more advanced than the 9th grade math found on the SAT.

And really, for many applications, it's faster. Who cares if you can spend a minute doing 234.55/445.67 in your head? The calculator's faster.

Yeah, you still don't need like 99% of a TI-89.

Especially for just the SAT.

yeah, no one NEEDS a lot of the functions of the ti-89, but its time-saving and efficient to have them at your disposal.

Aye, that's a totally void point. We all have one or more computers, but none of us use computers for nearly everything you could use a computer for. Such an argument is totally beside the point. Even if you didn't use a multipurpose tool for 98% of the stuff it'd be capable of, but used only some of the functions where it excels, it would be a good purchase.

I haven't used my TI-85 for any complicated stuff since I finished our equivalent of high-school and one lone statistics course at the uni, but I simply love how the thing handles even the very basic stuff. It's so much nicer to use than regular old fashioned calculators.
