I would it if it didn't take so long before you could really get into the cool stuff. It's interesting for sure, but very slow.

It SOUNDS cool.

But it's probably really laggy. :(

not really laggy, it's rather smooth.

I know CM and kyle90 plays it.

They offer a free 14day trial..I'm tempted to give it a shot.

it's rather boring if you don't know anyone.

Think going into a massive world where everyone is on the same server and you're a lowbie.

Sadly, you won't be doing much beyond mining for those 14 days.

I played it for 3-4 months.
The game got old.

At first I thought it was cool that you could do nothing and train your skills while not playing the game and being logged off.
But after awhile I realized that waiting on training was a pain.
Then someone declared WAR on my faction/guild/whatever, and I lost all of my money AND cargo expanders AND a ship at once in a 1.0 SAFE ZONE. That was 3 months of work down the drain, and I had no desire to start back over.

So I hauled all my resources into one battleship, headed to where the fights were... and I couldn't find anyone to fight. The guild that declared war never went online anymore.

After awhile, I decided "I'm over this" and cancelled my account without telling anyone.

With the best possible skills... you need money. If you don't have money, you can't train the best possible skills. It's an endless cycle of boredom.

Although, if you haven't already, I'd recommend giving the Free 14-day trial a shot. The game is very intuitive and interesting. It's literally the biggest MMO out there.

I play EVE, and I love almost every minute of it.

Except when I get doomsdayed. :argh:

Exactly why I stopped playing. It was a blast while it lasted, but waiting weeks for something to finish training? No thanks... Espescially when it's not influenced by user interaction. Just takes one of your stats, does some forumula, and comes up with a stupid duration.

Being a trader was awesome though. Didn't require much training and you made good money.

Or when you jump through a gate to avoid a doomsday into the BoB fleet waiting on the other side. :argh:

Actually that was pretty cool, the doomsday was going off just as I was jumping and I saw a beautiful bright light before my camera hit the next system... then I got almost all the way back to the gate to jump back in before I was killed... in a cruiser no less (it was my super-tanked Caracal of Comedy; if I had put speed mods on it instead I might just have made it)

If you don't get into an awesome corporation with tons of guys you really like you will get insanely bored very quickly.

Definitely use the trial so you can get a feel for the game, but you won't see much in that time. It takes a LONG TIME to get anywhere in the game, especially since the higher-end skills take WEEKS to learn. (Luckily you don't have to do anything except buy them, so they learn on their own even when you aren't logged in)

EVE is the Fisherman's Friends of MMO's; if its too strong you are too weak. Veger did three classic mistakes; putting all his eggs in one basket, thinking any space in EVE is safe (it's not), and flying something he could not afford to replace.

I am a year old in June, 11,1 million SP and I don't touch ships larger than cruisers. I have a lot of fun in my corp where we roam 0.0 ganking stupid people like Veger in small, fast guerilla gangs.

This game is as fun as you make it. Put out some goals, specialise in something and kick ***. Look for people who have specialised in similar things and make a kickass corp. Make some friends and lots of enemies and you'll have heaps of fun.

Trust no-one but yourself unless you can reach out and touch them IRL. It's a cutthroat game of deceit, theft, character assassination and tinfoilhattery and totally :awesome:

Welp, I was just away baking a cake and I forgot that I had left my Raven in a belt so I came back and it was a pile of debris. Oops.

I didn't understand the concept of "war" until they blew up everything I had. I really had no idea that I could be killed in the safest possible area.

For some reason I figured it would be restricted to .5ish space.

Anyhoo, I'm done with the game. I didn't feel that the effort was worth the 15 bucks a month.

On that note, the most fun I ever had in the game was running through about 12 points (most of which were like 0.2 or lower) in my friggin pod.

Talk about almost pissing your pants.

played the trial, got bored immediately, never looked back. I wish it was more like Freelancer; especially the controls! Eve has the worst controls I think I've ever encountered in a video game and almost the worst UI

What corp are you in?

edit: Also Lawl at Kyle for losing his Raven. See, with a Dominix I don't have that problem even if I just have my tank running without my Large Armor Repair going.
