Making Money Selling Games

So I don't have a job yet but I'd really like to get some money. I want to get started with airsoft and I think that $300-$400 would give me a sexy amount of stuff to play around with even if I don't end up playing much.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have had success selling your older computer games? If so...how did you do it? eBay, other massassians, local used game stores, what? I have 20-30 games, many of them moderately recent, many are classics, and I don't play any of them anymore. I thought that this amount of games could sell for a decent price but used computer games seem to not be in demand....any help would be nice.

Otter: "You just want my whiskey! I'm on to you!"

I've had luck at EB. Our local EB store has the better part of a whole wall PACKED with used PC games. I have found quite a few treasures in there [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

You could probably get more for them on eBay, but wouldn't it feel better to help out your fellow Massassians? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Alright, I'll list everything I've got and am willing to sell. This is without box unless noted by (b). I can pretty much safely say that none of these have manuals. All the CDs are in playable condition, even if the cases may be a bit messed up (or perhaps not even the original case...). In no particular order:

Max Payne 2
(b)Everquest Evolution
Homeworld
(b)Homeworld 2
Escape From Monkey Island
(b)Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Dark Age of Camelot (just the original CD)
Red Faction
(b)Jedi Outcast
(b)Sim City 4
Midtown Madness 2
(b)Icewind Dale II
Sim Theme Park
(b)Black & White
Oni
(b)Warcraft III
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (not original Diablo 2, i lost all of those cds)
(b)Dungeon Siege
Planetside
(b)Armed and Dangerous (not HIDDEN and Dangerous, this is the quirky Lucasarts game)
Hitman 2 (got this with my computer, paper case)
Battlefield: Vietnam
(b)Battlefield: 1942 (and Road to Rome expansion)
Fallout 2
Jane's USAF
Rollercoaster Tycoon (with Corkscrew Follies expansion)
Worms 2
Interstate '76
Baldur's Gate II
(b)Neverwinter Nights

Oh man...some of these could be hard to aprt with. Which is stupid, I haven't palyed most of them in a long time, but it's like a summary of my entire history. Maybe I should just save this list for history's sake.

I dunno exactly how to price these. Make me an offer I guess. It should be noted that I would estimate the value of all these games, were they new, at around $1400 or so. Just saying. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

By the way, I estimate that getting into airsoft will cost me around 1000$ canadian.

A decent gun alone is around 400USD at least, and that's not counting the battery, the battery charger, the ammo.. and then you'll need goggles, and you'll want camo if you don't want to look stupid [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Whoa, where are you getting your stuff? I think I can get woodland BDUs, an M16 VN (that's a Tokyo Marui) with battery and charger and an extra clip (maybe 2) and some bbs for $400-500 depending on shipping and stuff. And I'm going to see about contacting Oklahoma airsoft folk about local shops toa void the shipping costs. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Also, I think i'm going to go for a paintball mask..my face and teeth are too beautiful to break. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I'm getting my stuff from a local dealer I know. Prices are somewhat higher here since you can't order anything from a US store or anywhere outside the country, so you pay the exchange rate, taxes on the money change and profit for the dealer. But this guy's pretty cool (he gave me a free membership just for attending one of his games, which basicly saves me about 50 bucks on the gun).

TM AK Spetsnaz (new) - 485.00$
Extra hicap mag - 25.00$
Large Battery - 45$
Battery charger - 45$
Bag of BBs - 20$
High resistance tactical vest - 80$
High resistance camoflage (pants) - 30$
High resistance camoflage (shirt) - 30$
Boots (for winter games) - 100$
UVEX TAC-1 tactical goggles - 50$

+ taxes

The camoflage and tactical vest are made of non conventional materials made to be more resistant (mainly due to the harsh terrain we have here)

I'm also planning on eventually getting a winter camo. Right now I only have woodland.

That's some sexy gear there. You'll have to take pictures once you've got it all.

Winter camo would be nice, I imagine. You'd look pretty silly running around in green camo with glistening white snow everywhere. Even around here.

Last winter game I was at, I was wearing dark green and brown camo. Not very efficient when crouching in a snowy trench, but I had the advantage of being able to hide behind trees while everyone else was stuck to the ground.

How about 30 for MP2, WC3, And NWN?

(make that 33 for MP2, WC3, NWN, And I76. And does NWN include any expansions?)

That sounds reasonable. I saw your first offer there, I was scrambling to calculate a fair price, heheh.

Max Payne 2 is in great condition, the box is still intact and everything since it was the only storage. NWN has the manual, the box, and all 3 cds in good condition. Warcraft 3 has the box and is in good condition. It's the sexy nightelf box, too. Mmm.

[Edit: Sure. And no, NWN is just the original.]

(Not so sure on NWN then, the expansions are kind of expensive... :\ And I really just want to start playing. Hmmmm.. I dunno, I'll have to think on that. maybe I'll look at something else instead)

I did pretty well selling old games on eBay. Newer stuff definitely gets the better prices (actually made a profit on some PS2 games I picked up at a 15% off day at K-Mart), but there is a market for some older titles.

I think paypal will work if you can, probably will be the fastest, too, but cash works.

matrixhacker, you can have black & white. Why don't you and SAJN_Master both e-mail me about what you'd pay for Battlefield: Vietnam and I'll give it to whichever of you will pay more. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

NoESC, $5 for JO sounds about right, hah. E-mail me.

Looks like I'm going to have to write all this stuff down somewhere. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

If you have console games and are planning to sell them to Gamestop - DON'T. I sold about 10 games to them that were NES and Genesis games and I only made 8 bucks. The highest seller was only two bucks. The lowerest was ten cents. If you REALLY want to sell games, do it at a flea market or garage sale. Those game retail stores just screw you over, especially considering that they probably sell the game for like 500% the price you sold it to them. I should know because I sold them "Marble Madness" for like 25 cents and they go sell it the same game for 10 bucks!!! Those SOBS!!!!

Yeah, I asked around at soem retail places..they give you terrible offers on games, even console games. I knew the instant he said "anywhere from 25 cents to--" that I wasn't going to give them anything.

kyle, hah, no, if I still wanted to play them I wouldn't be selling them. I figure if I haven't touched them in the alst month I probably never will. Notice that JK and MotS aren't beign sold, because I don't think I've ever gone a month without screwing aroudn with one of those, haha.

Omicron88, considering it's fairly new but not that popular, $9 seems fair. E-mail me if you're interested.
