Halp! (monitor no signal)

Having very strange prob. with my comp - monitor says "no signal." No beeping as it boots up, either. I had a similar problem before, and after I tried using a different monitor, it worked. I then switched back, no problem.

So it's neither my video card, nor my monitor, nor my motherboard, it seems.

Switching the monitor to a different one now doesn't seem to help, but I'm still pretty sure that all my hardware's OK. For some reason I always get this problem after I turn off my comp after it's been on for weeks.

Any ideas?

What bothers me the most is that there's no beeping as the comp is booting up. So I think it's not really the monitor that's to blame here... Fans work, though.

However, if my motherboard or CPU are ****ed, how come when I had the same problem a while ago it all started working after a while?

Because your faulty russian electronics can't even fail dependably.

So after checking whether my RAM and my video card are all plugged in properly, and even trying a different monitor, I gave up on it and left it unplugged for 4 hours or so. Just turned it on, everything seems to be working fine. Original monitor, too. Any idea of WTF's up with it? I think it's the motherboard - it's bloody ancient.

I think you answered your own question: it's old. It's just unreliable anymore because of it's age.
