Graphic cards have changed so much in the last year, so I need a little feedback.

Right now I have a 7800gt, I want another nVidia card in the $220 price area. Any ideas? Something that might be a little better?

You aren't going to get much for $220.

Save your money for an upgrade that won't be a retarded waste of money.

Collect an extra $80USD and you'll get a very nice card. The 8800GTS is probably the best bang for buck right now.

How's the 8600gs compared to the 7950gt?

It's crap. 7950 is better.

Thought so, what I really right now, I have a 7800gt, it looks like the best thing I can get for around $230 maybe, is the 7900 gs, which is just a step above that card.

Actaully 7950 gt, there is one on newegg for 209, nice

Both are only a step, I wouldn't waste my cash on either.

If I had a 7800gt, I wouldn't be looking to upgrade right now, but would rather wait a little longer- perhaps until a card like the 8900 or 8950 exists. An "upgrade" to the 8600 would be more of a side-grade, as the last three numbers in the model are equally, if not more important than the series number. Hell, I'm running an old 6800gt, and I'm hesitant to upgrade just yet.

Buy another one and do SLI.

The GS is, if anything worse than the 7800GT. Seriously, don't spend 200$ on 10$ of performance. You're not saving money buy buying cheap cards with almost nil performance gain. Trust me, go SLI or save for a GTS. You can't get anything for 200$ that will be noticeably better than a 7800GT. Certainly nothing that will be worth the 200$.

I had a 7800 GT for several months. Had some problems and Newegg took it back and gave me a nice credit, with which I bought a 7950 GT. The difference is absolutely tiny, really not worth upgrading from a 7800 GT.

I'm not, i'm just selling my current PC for $800 and getting a new one.

Why? That's WASTING YOUR MONEY.

Your PC is probably worth about 800 in raw parts, maybe 1-200 difference. That won't get you much, especially not now, and it'll be...wait for it...

A WASTE OF MONEY.

So don't do it if you value your money. If you don't, then hell, go for it.

You realize that after all is said in done, your new PC will be, in all likelihood, slower than your old one, unless you have an extra 500-600 more $ laying around.
