I also use Google Reader. For me the main draw of RSS is being notified when there are new items (some of my feeds only get updated once in a couple of weeks' time), and being able to mark new items as read (useful for feeds that get 20-30 updates per day). I also like that with Google Reader I have my feeds and a familiar interface on any PC with a browser.

I don't use RSS feeds.

People tell me I should, but I just don't care that much about internet.

Yeah.

Although if there was a decent program that stayed in the background and un-annoyingly notified me when certain feeds are updated, I'd be more inclined to start. Are there any readers like that?

QFBTWIWGTS!

Huzzah!

But yeah, if as mentioned there is a little unobstrusive app that downloaded the feeds so you could view them offline and gave you a little wave when a new story landed I'd use probably use that.

Google Reader. A friend recommended it to me a few months back when I was ready to nuke the entire user base of Digg. Once I got all the various feeds set up, it's been great.

If you don't read news-type sites/blogs then there really isn't any point. If you do, it makes the process a lot easier and less time-consuming.
