Possibly the greatest Firefox extension ever. I use Firefox's find bar religiously, I don't think I'd be physically able to web browse without it. So find bar + regular expressions = geek bliss.

Hmm, this was a big hit on my school's computer science forum. Guess I thought more people would know about regex's.

Basically, regular expressions are an easy way to search for a specific type of string. I could try and explain it, but the wikipedia article does a much better job. If you've ever wanted to search through a webpage for addresses, postal codes, words that begin with "g" and end in "ing", or anything else that a simple text search can't do, REs are the way to go.

umm. ok so how does this do more than Google Toolbar? (which can search within a webpage, and as far as I know supports RE's)

For some reason I was under the impression that it was just like google search except it allows re's in addition.

That will never happen because the computational price would be undescribably immense. For a worst-case search you would basically need to parse every webpage on the internet.
