Today at work I was tasked with pricing out several new notebooks and desktops that need to be purchased. My work does not want to switch to Vista yet. On average, to make a Dell system that comes with Vista have XP Home it costs about $50-80 extra. To then go from XP Home to Pro it's an additional $90.

Seriously, WTF? Is MS just throwing Dell all kinds of money to try and get market penetration with Vista?

Actually, it's probably because Microsoft has discontinued OEM pricing.

I was mistaken, OEM pricing is still on.

I don't know what Dell's deal is then.
