So I overheard two morons talking today about how today is some kind of internet-inspired "gas-out": a day when anyone who wants to "do something about the gas price-gouging" can stick it to the big oil companies. The premise is simple: do not purchase gasoline on May 15th. One of the morons was relating to the other moron how big oil lost $150,000,000 in revenue due to the last gas-out. I wondered to myself from which orifice this figure originated.
I wanted to tell the morons how their gas-out would almost certainly have no effect whatsoever unless they actually lowered their long-term gasoline consumption. What the morons failed to realize is that they will simply buy their gas on May 14th to compensate. One of the morons (the one who didn't know about the gas-out) expressed her relief upon being told the by the other moron the gas-out was today---"It's a good thing I gassed up yesterday," she exclaimed.
I sighed.
