Dead Or Alive movie (No Pirate)

I hadn't heard that a DOA movie was even being made, so when my buddy said "Hey, Lets watch DOA" I was thinking "wow, DOA movie, Outstanding".
It was pretty high quality and didn't look like the pirated movies we buy from Hajj, so I figured it had already been released stateside and my buddy had bought it at the PX.

Tonight I was looking on Yahoo movies for a Transformers trailer and I noticed that DOA isn't going to be released in theatres stateside until the 22nd of June.

Am I missing something here or what?

wait, there is a Dead or Alive movie existing?

Because the effects of watching Mortal Kombat movies haven't worn off yet on me.

This movie beats the living Bejesus out of Mortal Kombat.
The females are hotter than MK females, too. :D

Nope you're not missing anything. For reasons I don't know why, the movie is having quite a late release in the U.S. From what I read on imdb, the movie isn't as atrocious as some other game movies. It's very a very average action movie. Oh and it seems Seraph (Collin Chou) is in the movie.

I'll have to watch again and look for him.

Some of the characters don't look the same as the game. Bayman, for example, Looks more chinese than Russian. But when I saw Gen Fu, I was wondering if I was looking at the movie or the game.
The Costumes were one thing they did right. All the main characters (Kasumi, Christy, Helena, Hayate, Ayane, Tina, Bass) get short backstories.

And omg.. Ayane is frickin smokin' in the movie.

Saw the trailer. Looks pretty cool. If it's anything like the Mortal Kombat movie (the first one, I prefer to think the 2nd never existed), I'd probably like it. Never played the games though.

I am amazed that our entire military calls Muslims 'Hajj's." That doesn't even make sense. You'd think people who are so equipped for fighting and living in a foreign country would at least be able to come up with a racial slurr that makes sense. Adding to that, you'd think these same people would have a little respect for the country they're occupying.

Sorry, I'm shunning US soldiers AND derailing. A DOA movie sounds stupid as hell.

As long as Kasumi or Ayene wins, the movie is good.
Wikissassi sucks.

Tina, Kasumi, Helena and Christie play volleyball at one point in the movie.

As for kirby's comment about a good racial slurr, If I said some of the things we call Habib around here, I'd probably be banned. :(

And you, Kirby, should not talk about things you have no grasp on the concept of. You have no idea what goes on over here, All you see is what CNN and Fox report.. So please don't make comments about the war when you don't have all the facts.

And stop posting about the war in all my threads, Dammit!

Wait wait wait, I need to know what goes on in Iraq to know that Hajj as a racial slur and a disrespect for the country your occupying are retarded? You aren't some moral supremacist because you were shot at and people you know died. Don't pretend that makes you immediatly right. It makes you an unfortunate victim of war, but it doesn't in any way justify the idiotic and racist remarks you make about war in everyone elses thread.

If you're implying that all video game movies have been bad, you can go to hell, because Super Mario Brothers is possibly the greatest movie ever made.

Hey I remember when I said something like this a few weeks ago and was flamed for it.

Good to know I'm not the only person that knows a racial slur when I see it.

Bah, DOA movies, I'm much more eager to see how the Hitman movies will turn out.

Just saw it. It was awesome. It's like Hero and Mortal Kombat and softcore porn combined. What's not to love?

Was going to post some pictures, but Fox removed them. The only thing I can salvage is this picture of his backside.

His back looks alright, but his front from the removed picture...the actor looks too young. He lacks the facial structure along with the rugged look to match the 47 from the game.

Tim Olyphaunt will be fine as 47. That picture he was just posing with a fan and smiling. Watch a few movies with him as an actor and look at him when he gets pissed off and serious. He'll look perfect.

Dude, Detective Drycoff is playing 47? I can't really imagine him without hair. Although I guess truth be told I've only seen him in Gone in 60 Seconds and Girl Next Door.
2007-05-20, 6:27 PM #32
Well, they've originally cast Vin Diesel... And although Vin Diesel is infinitely awesome, I don't really see him as Mr. 47. Instead, I think Jason Statham would've been a perfect cast. My second choice would be David Bateson, the guy who voices 47 and on whose image the character was apparently based on in the first place.

Yes. Jason Statham would be perfect to play a character with an american voice. Good thinking.

He looks the part. And there's been lots of instances where Americans played British characters - I don't see this being a big deal. And technically, 47 is Romanian anyway. :P

Jason Statham definitely has the look.
2007-05-21, 12:09 AM #37
Although I love Jason Statham to bits, I don't think he would have been a good 47.
47's face is fairly clean, while Statham looks a little rough. His voice is also kind of gruff, while 47's was more deep.

I don't really know exactly what the movie is going to be about, but I think Timothy Olyphant definately looks like a young 47. I'm hoping it works out.
