MotS Cutscenes WTF?
2007-05-24, 12:54 PM #1
OK so i recently ran though SP for good ol fun but i noticed that one of the cutscense ran extremly fast and the sound was brokenup... not normal. Ill admit the CD is orginal and very old from 98 when i came out, so i decided to make a copy of it for backup and i used that but got the same results but on different cutscense and not the same ones... so is this the games problem? or did the files on my CD **** the bed?

oh yea and you cant buy a new copy of MotS on lucasarts.com only JK... and thats backordered :suicide:

JK cutscenes used Smacker which you can download a player/converter for called RAD Tools.

MotS cutscenes use a proprietary format which you can't work with. :(

Try going into your video card settings and turning on vertical sync. If it's set to off Mots and JK can get a couple hundred fps which speeds up keyframes and other stuff.

Yes? Since the "cutscenes" in MotS are really just COG-scripted animations with voiceovers and control over the camera?
2007-05-24, 5:27 PM #17
but they're still in a split pre-rendered video file.

Well, not only that, but all the sound files for the dialogue aren't on the disk, so you'll just have subtitles and some of the cutscenes in the .goo are buggy (at least they were when I still had MotS installed).

They are very much Smacker files. They are cog-driven cutscenes that were recorded with Smacker. All the cogged scenes for the cutscenes are in the .goo file.

I thought the problem with viewing the cutscenes was a codec problem. But then again, maybe I'm thinking of Thief.

Should I assume that changing the vertical sync didn't work then?

I think it's a windows XP problem isn't it? I had the same problem.

It didn't do it on my XP machine that I remember. I'll re-install it and have another look tomorrow.

I also had SP1 not sure if that would make a difference.
