It's available for free.

But apparently it assumes that it's impossible to lower graphics settings, because my above-average rig was rejected.

I just started playing about an hour ago. So far it's quite fun, but I'm afraid that my system is a bit dated and it doesn't run that great for me.

If I post my fileplanet login and password on here for a few hours, could someone sign me up when it's open? I've got to go somewhere for the next couple hours. I REALLY want to try this, and I have the system specs for it now!

I'm underwhelmed. It's just a generic war shooter. It reminds me of battlefield, which I guess is good, but it's not the war shooter it was made out to be :-/

I was getting really good speeds, in the 500-700s then at 73.4% downloaded, it just stoped.
I watched the speed drop from 600s to 100s to 50 to 0.8 til now it is just a "?"

That makes me angry.

[edit] tried it again and this time it only got to 41%
my connection sucks.

So far I would agree. It's still fun, but not as revolutionary as they made it out to be. I think it's going to be a good game for clan play.

I've wondered why people thought this game was a big deal since the first screen shots. It's even worse than I thought, even for a beta. There's just no potential there, it's just not fun. It's exactly like Battlefield 2142, but worse in every way.

Graphics aren't everything. I would guess that the game was designed to be played on a broad range of computers (it's semi-playable on my 2 1/2 year old desktop) and that they're aiming at the serious clan players that are always looking forward to the latest and greatest id software titles. I'm personally glad to see them venturing in to this genre. We must also keep in mind that it's still in beta. I wouldn't call this game revolutionary, but it's definitely better than BF 2142 (the objective system is superior, etc). I think this game is going to be relatively popular amongst serious FPS clans. I also appreciated what Carmack showed off at the most recent WWDC07.

I was hopeing that'd be a case of graphics > gameplay, but it's not. Infact, I'd go so far as to say that the gameplay makes the graphics look good.

2. I really don't see what you guys are talking about aside from a little lag, I had alot of fun playing this. Maybe thats because I found a REALLY good spot to snipe from, though.

It looks like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory on steroids, which isn't surprising seeing that the game is the successor.

People keep trying to say "its like ____ game". It is like Enemy Territory and Quake 4 combined. That's the idea. Just how Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was Wolfenstein combined with the "Enemy Territory" gameplay.

Bump again for the most fun I've had in an fps in more than two years.

Definitely a must-buy for me. A W:ET clone no doubt, but it brought back so many great memories and demonstrates the potential for many more. Long range rocket launcher direct-hits are just so beautiful. Poetry in motion

Also: if you have a powerful rig, you can use the command "r_megadrawmethod 0" to substantially improve the graphics. Apparently it uses a much more taxing rendering engine and the game looks much more up to date.
