Not that it isn't cool or anything, but what do you need DVD for in a car?

So that you can quickly reference quotes from The Fast and the Furious when you pull up at the lights next to a Supra or similar.

1990 Mazda Miata. Has hardtop, rollbar, coilover suspension and eibach swaybars. Handles nice, next is a turbo worth about 250 hp.

I hope you're kidding. It is, after all, the most popular track and autocross car. That sounds like something a friend of mine used to say about them, until he drove mine. Now he has one.

Says who? There are so many other cars I would buy before I even set foot in a miata. :colbert:

VW Golf GL. I'm using it until I graduate and get a real job...then the plan is to buy either a Rabbit or a GTI.

EDIT: This isn't my actual car. Same model/color though.

Says all the people driving them on tracks and autocross courses. Your personal opinions don't matter, there are more Miatas racing than almost any other car, and for good reason.

The last autocross I went to, which was very small unfortunately, had seven of them. One ran the best time beating out a Corvette Z06 with a good driver. That shocked me. They also have their own race series in the US and at least one in Japan. Not sure about Europe and Australia. As for the looks, that's of course up to you, but I love the way they look. At least the older ones like mine.

The R32 is the Golf you want, if you must have a Golf.

Also did the Z06 driver make one hell of a mistake, or was the MX5 crazy worked over? Cos there's no way...

You might be surprised. AutoX favors light & nimble cars...not saying the Z06 isn't an agile beast...but there's not enough room for it to make much use of the huge power advantage.
woot!

No matter what anyone says, it's still a woman's car.

Well, apart from possibly the Mark 3, they seem to be popular with men than the old ones.
nope.

My dad has one...I think it's an '03? Maybe '04. I dunno.

Sorry, that's a mark 2. :P

But then again it's still nicer than the one with the pop-up headlights.
nope.

They're chick cars, but they're a blast to drive. I want an MX5.

No mistakes, he had the best time of the day until the Miata's last run where it took top honors by 2 tenths of a second. I talked to the guy in the Miata and he said all he had was suspension and tires. Of course, the guy behind the wheel makes the biggest difference.

Baconfish, I rarely see women driving the older Miatas anymore. Now that the original body style can be had cheaply and the aftermarket is so huge, it's mostly young guys driving them. I see the occasional older guy in one, but by far it's young guys that like to race.

I guess if you think the Miata is a chick car you'd also have to think the old MG's are chick cars. Or any small, lightweight car that handles better than most anything else for that matter.

Indeed they are, hence the "most". I'd love to have an Exige S! I promise you though, take a couple laps in a Miata with a good driver and you'll realize the generalization isn't as out there as you think.

I'm tired of talking, lets see some more pics! I still say we need a Firebird family photo.

Would those laps involve straights though?

Me and wookie are on different continents unfortunately.

Slightly better pic, still need to use something better than phone camera though.

Except for the price tag...

I think me wanting a GTI is stretching it. For now at least.

I'm not saying everything is, but the MX-5 is. :P

And as for old MGs, nowdays they're generally for Women and Men having a mid-life crisis. [They're ok for old people though. :P]
