Don't care.

What was that stupid crackling going on the whole time?
2007-07-15, 1:55 PM #4
What crackling? The only thing like that I heard was at the beginning, and that was clearly gunfire.

I thought it was strictly mediocre. I'd rather see a CGI movie akin to the commercial shown during Monday Night Football awhile back, or the Halo Wars trailer.

Why is DOS the OS of choice 500 years in the future?

...Wait, just what was awesome about this movie?

It looked like someone edited the Citreon Picasso ad.
nope.

I believe that those were in game screen shots, as well as some early looks at what might be the movie. Then again, it did say HALO 3 at the end.
Nothing to see here, move along.

This ain't a scene, It's a god damn arms race.

The video is directed Neill Blomkamp. The same guy behind the Halo movie. I think we're could be looking at an early 'trailer' here.

No.

No.

The movie is shelved for the time being. No one is funding it. No studios have picked it back up. Neill's supposedly doing a series of shorts, all of which are supposed to fill the time between now and September. These have no real purpose, other than to try and look flashy, and maybe convince some studio exec somewhere that the Halo movie is worth picking up again.

It was part of the Halo 3 trailers at E3. That's all it is.

Phoenix is right.

It's a pity that the movie offline right now. I think Neill will/would do a good job with this movie. His two personal shorts that he did were at the least visually intriguing.

I actually thought he might too awhile back, but after seeing this.... I dunno... Not so sure anymore. Like I said, I think Halo is better suited to a CG movie, and not live action, and this is too low budget to really say if he's still suited for it. Didn't really like most of the style either. Kept reminding me more of Gears of War than Halo.

It seemed old school and reminded me of Terminator and Aliens.

Well the way I saw it was that it was made to be a separate style from what the Halo movie might be. That this was focussed on the Marines so it was in a style to facilitate the Marine attitude. I might like a CG Halo movie, but I don't know. Some region of my brain remembers 'Spirits Within.'

Have you seen Advent Children? It blows Spirits Within completely out of the water. Both the Halo 3 commercial and Halo Wars trailer have proven beyond a doubt that it can look REALLY REALLY good. I'd think that even though it's more time consuming, it's the hands down best way to go, because it preserves the look and feel of the games and the characters. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, has always been at least ONE of the problems with every other video game to movie project. Not to mention this way you avoid excessive green screening for the Covenant, and you can maintain the voice actors.

You raise a convincing point. And I venture to agree with you.

Now that was no less than a fanboy comment. You cannot possibly tell me that RVB is funny to ANYONE but the pale faced halo dorks. It's honestly one of the blandest forms of humor known to comedian kind. Let's make a RVB joke right here, right now.

T "Do you ever think about why we're here?"
B "Because we just are. That's the red base, this is the blue base. We want their flag."
T "You don't ask yourself why we want their flag?"
B "No. That's the way it's always been."
T "I guess you're right."
.....
B "Now that you think about it, there isn't even any way to get into this canyon."
T "SEE!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No. It's funny for a couple of web comics. An entire 6 or whatever seasons of generic haha fart humor is bland, unoriginal, and mind numbingly stupid. It's no surprise that a bunch of nerds think it's drop dead funny. I'll bet it's the same group of people that keel over every time absath makes a generic joke about player 2 screwing over player 1. "I'm going to take body part one and make it go into orifice A" oh man, that's some funny stuff.

I've never even played Halo 2 and I find RvB funny. Your humor is broken.

I despise Halo and I think RvB is funny. It's the content, not the brand. :\

Not a fanboy comment. RvB is funny often in some of the same ways MASH was funny. And as stated above, your sense of humor is broken. :P

But seriously, just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't funny. For comparison, I despise Adam Sandler and Will Ferrel, but half of the people here think they're funny as hell. I keep my mouth shut though, because A) No one cares. And B) It's just begging to start pointless stupid bickering.

I'm sorry, but no programme of it's kind compares to MASH. :P

I was referring mostly to the way they poke fun at the absurdity of the system and their lives in the military. MASH obviously does it better.
