When I switch modes (Entertainment, Game, Audio Creation), the master volume is automatically reset to the default of 45%.

I'm on Windows XP. I've tried with two different drivers, the ones that came with the card and the latest ones from the Creative website. I tried googling and searching forums.creative.com but couldn't find a solution. Massassi, however, has all the answers!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I had no such problems with my Audigy in XP or Vista :/

Uh... what happened to the Technology Forum? It seems like Discussion is being clogged with system specs nonsense all of a sudden.

I took my XtremeGamer back tot he store, the thing's a piece of ****. Audacity nerfed the card on the driver level, and seemingly has no intention to do anything about it.

Creative drivers are crap. Try driver cleanering them and reinstalling the drivers.

Honestly, I'd take he thing back. It doesn't do hardware sound processing, that line only does them in software. I'd use on board or get something like a cheap Audigy 2 or real X-Fi.

I have an XtremeGamer, and I love it. Do you have the THX application installed? It's in charge of regulating speaker levels, and it resets everytime you change from Entertainment, Game, and Audio Creation. When you set the levels in a specific mode with the THX application, that becomes the default.

while i agree on taking it back and spending the extra on a real x-fi... using onboard over a budget x-fi is madness

I have the x-fi fatality and it still sucks sometimes. Like the optical in volume can't be changed when the card is decoding Dolby Digital. So when I plug in my 360 so I can use the 5.1 speakers on my comp, it pops and crackles. There's a 100-something page thread on Creative site, and they blame Microsoft... :downswords:

Actually, from what I've read, XtremeAudio is the one that's not a real X-Fi.

Hey yeah, Kroko's right, XtremeAudio is the fake one.

I have not seen the "mode changing" of X-Fi to have any effect whatsoever on anything. So if you're doing that several times a day, stop. Problem solved.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but whenever I "changed modes" it just changed a menu screen to something different.
