Coca-cola makes me feel like I'm on something

I didn't drink soda for an extended period of time because of braces, but since about two years ago I started drinking it on occasion (maybe once every few months).

My work place, now, however, has free soda machines and a lack of other beverages, so I've been "forced" to consume more Coca-cola than I have since I was a young child.

I don't lack caffeine intake, as I drink an inordinate amount of tea. For some reason, though, whenever I drink Coca-cola now it feels very euphoric. Why is this? Caffeine addiction?

coca-cola is still made using coca leaves, and thus still does have trace amounts of cocaine. im not suggesting that you're getting a coke buzz, just a little fun fact :P

apparently they extract the cocaine and "sell it to the drug industry".. im just wondering if its the legal kind.. :tinfoil:

That's an urban legend that's even less true than the one about Martha Stewart having a vagina.

although when they had to extract the cocaine (and it is a complete extraction), they replaced it with caffeine because they have similar effects

It's more like there are arguments either way, though I'm more convinced that there isn't.

Because the cocaine predecessors are naturally present in coca leaves, some argue that today's Coca-Cola uses "spent", or treated, coca leaves, those that have been through a cocaine extraction process, to flavor the beverage. Others contend that this process cannot extract all of the cocaine alkaloids at a molecular level, and so the drink still contains trace amounts of the stimulant.[3][4]The Coca-Cola Company currently refuses to comment on the continued presence of coca leaf in Coca-Cola.[5][6]
