Gmail is failing me.

Anyone else having a problem with sending attachments? Recently, it doesn't matter what it is, or how small or large, when told to send the message, Gmail sits on it's ***, and spins it's wheels, and does nothing. This is irritating to say the least, especially as right now I NEED to be able to send things out for work.

I'm also suspicious it's not Gmail at all, and rather my favorite phone company BellSouth (or is it AT&T now? who the **** knows) and their lovely DSL service, as this wasn't happening until sometime after we got DSL. I'm about to test that theory by sending my mail from a friend's house using his nice Roadrunner connection.

But yeah, anyone else having issues lately? Mail comes in just peachy. Going out it fails miserably.

I just sent out 3 attachments with it yesterday. It's fine. Maybe it's BellSouth.

768 down 128 up according to them.

623 down 43 up according to one speed test I just ran.

501 down 29 up according to another.

Upload speed is obviously completely effed up according to those.

128kbps...should translate to 16kBps. Meaning you have more

768kbps should translate to like 96kBps...I wouldn't complain ;)

As it turns out... My father's BitTorrent client is, once again, responsible for devouring most of the bandwidth we're given. Once I turned it off and ran the speed tests again I was getting numbers closer to what was advertised, and Gmail sent attachments as it should. Which means that every time over the last month I've had trouble sending out an email, it's been his fault. -_-

You could try setting an upload cap in his client, maybe he won't notice or care.

My upload is 512 kbps, which is about 64 KB/sec at best. I cap my client at like 30 KB/sec and get great down speeds.

Yeah, I talked to him, it WAS set around 20kpbs. He lowered it to 15, which is where mine is. I'll probably end up either lowering it farther, or just stopping all his downloads when something needs to go out.

Ha. If you like what he has. Really, he has absolutely no reason to get half the stuff he is. 90% of it is music. Music he already has. He is obsessive about music. He'll have an album on Vinyl, Tape, CD, and now digitally. Why? Just to have it. Is he ever going to listen to it? Hell no. But he spends all day and night downloading album after album. *shrugs* It's his drive space to waste. I'll just keep stopping his client when it interferes with what I need to be doing.

And if I get banned for talking about my DAD pirating music... You people will seriously suck.
