Just went to one in Louisville last night, and all I can really say is :awesome:

The music was incredible, the performance was great, and of course seeing Jack Wall and Tommy Tallarico up close was a plus. They played all sorts of music, I'll give a short rundown here:

1. Quick pieces from old arcade classics, starting with Pong, moving to Space Invaders, Frogger, Missile Command, Tempest, Donkey Kong, and more.
2. Then the NES games come up, tons of classics here, most of which I unfortunately don't remember the name of. :(
3. They throw a few more random ones in, like Dragon Lair and other rarer games, then...
4. Metal Gear Solid. Shows footage from MGS1-MGS4 (Yes, there's new footage of MGS4 that you don't see elsewhere).
5. Civilization 4. The intro bit.
6. Zelda
7. Myst Medley (Music from Myst, Riven, Myst III, and parts of others)
8. The sister of the "Mario Pianist" came out and played 10 songs of Final Fantasy. Damn, she's good.
9. Kingdom Hearts (complete with ZERO ingame footage, because Square refused to allow them to show any. Instead, Disney allowed them to show movie clips of characters from the game, which they did).
10. Sonic (All music from Sonic 1, put to footage of all the sonic games. Sonic 1, 2, 3, SnK, Spinball, 3D Blast, Adventure 1 and 2, and Heroes)
11. Mario
12. World of Warcraft (They did the intro cinematic)
13. Finished with a big showing of Halo, and then an extra surprise of music (plus footage) of Halo 3.
14. An encore playing of Super Mario World on the piano by the sister of the Mario Pianist. She does the first level music, and does it again at the "almost out of time" speed. Insane >.>
15. Quick surprise with the Sephrioth's theme at the very end, complete with Tallarico wailing on an electric guitar. Naturally, no footage, cause Square is a bunch of panzies. (They were the ONLY ones not to allow footage of their games)

All in all it was about 2 hours and 15 minutes long (not counting intermission nor the preshow/aftershow stuff). I highly recommend anyone who likes music and video games to go, it is a treat. I will definitely go again.

So it was a music concert with a video game theme?

Whoops yes they did lol, I'll add that. They played the "Myst Medley", composed of music from Myst, Riven, Myst III, and parts of the others.

I love orchestrated music, but I can't ever attend these because they're always in a place that's far off from where I live in PA.

There's another one planned in the future for Philadelphia, PA. I suggest you try and go there :D

The place must have smelled with so many geeks.

Hah, yeah... but honestly, if it were reasonably priced, I'd probably go if it came somewhere near me. :ninja:

Tickets were $15, I think.

My school orchestra put on a VGL show this spring. It was awesome, although it felt a little long... I thought they could have done with a little less of the pianist (Martin Leung, or whatever).
