Best series by R.A. Salvatore

Anybody who ready fantasy novels knows the name R. A. salvatore. Over the years he has written many great classics. But i think two stand out of the rest. Legacy of the Drow series of the Drizzt Do'Urden saga and the few books he wrote for the New Jedi Order series. Just my opinion.

Yep, have all of the Collector's Editions of the Legacy of the Drow that he has written so far. Excellent books. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I personally liked "The Cleric Quintet" the most.

I have all the Drizzt books published so far, haven't been able to get hold of the Cleric Quintet Collectors Edition though.

That's the guy who killed Chewie? I vote that his name be banned from these forums!

I applaude him for finally killing off a main character. Chewie was very cool, but it definately lends a "reality" to the strories now.

Besides, he went out with a bang. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I was under the impression that he didn't have a choice in the matter of killing off Chewie.

He doesn't exactly have a habit of (permanently) killing off major good guys.

Vector Prime sucked. Not just because he killed Chewie... it just sucked. The Vong are a stupid concept.

Ok, so maybe the truth is that New Jedi Order in general sucked.

George Lucas approved the killing off of chewie even though it was a sad moment i think chewie had a good long life. I haven't read the Cleric Quintet either does anybody know what it is about?

George Lucas also approved the whole Thrawn Trilogy, then proceeded to ruin it with the prequel trilogy. He doesn't care. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

The Thrawn trilogy is godly. I keep meaning to buy them and I keep forgetting to.

I think he was referring to the fact that by allowing a major character to die, it actually adds an element of suspense to a long-established series. Otherwise you'll just read every book wondering what contrived means they'll survive by, rather than if they'll survive.

Technically, it was a moon crashing into a planet. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif].

I enjoyed Vector Prime (i just bought it second hand and read it a few weeks ago), as one of the first good books i've read in quite some time (that being said, its been at least 1 year since i read a Star Wars book).

NJO Didn't suck Its just different. Star Wars has sadly lapsed into a tried-and-true formula of enemies and agendas. Its usually the Sith, Empire, or one of the many other factions that litter the galaxy. The fact is that the Vong are the first unique opponent that the Alliance/New Republic has fought since the Ssi-Ruuvi.

Variety is the spice of life! The new concepts (sadly such as killing Chewie [tear]) have helped keep Star Wars from becoming stagnent.

That being said, I've only read 2 books by Salvatore (EPII:Attack Of The Clones and NJO:Vecor Prime), so i can't say anything about his other series.

I thought Vector Prime was one of the best Star Wars books i ever read. Maybe second or third behind The Bouty Hunter Trilogy and the X-wing series.

How could you say the Yuzan Vong are a dumb idea, if you say that you might as well say that so are all the other alien races. I thought their technology was a nice change from boxy imperial stuff.
