Question about latest Harry Potter movie (SPOILERS IN HERE)

I didn't read the books, I couldn't get into them.

So apparently the evil witch lady used some sort of spell on the asian chick in order to get her to spill the beans. But even after Harry Potter found out about that, he still ignored/snubbed her. So what's up with that, why is he still pissed when she clearly wasn't at fault?

I'm pretty sure he snubbed her before he found out. I don't even remember any interaction between the two after he found out. It certainly would have been nice if they wrapped it up.

It seemed like she tried to approach him in the hallway and he just walked away from her.

So, in the movie it was Cho Chan who betrayed the DA?
In the book it was her friend.

It's called Order of the Phoenix.

If memory serves from the books, he's too upset about Voldemort coming back / Siruis dying to care about Cho anymore, and kinda blows her off, despite the fact that it might hurt her feelings.

That scene was definately before discovering about the truth serum or whatnot. I quite remember him being all "ooooh" with his facial expression when he found out the truth.

In the book they go on a date to Hogsmeade on Valentine's Day, but with Harry being distracted and annoyed by several other things, it doesnt go so well.

After that I think they just kinda drift apart.

I didn't understand what on earth that big stone gate thing was at the very end, or that it killed people that went through it (until someone that had read the books explained that to me). I just thought it was a Quake-style teleportation thing, and Sirius had gone to collect the red armour and rocket launcher ammo.

Overall, the movie was alright. I liked the part where they have the balls to stand up for themselves (even if in secret) and do some training, that's cool. But it was really dialog-heavy and plot-thin. Oh well, what can I expect?

I thought the movie always went back to that crappy friendship theme too much. Overall though, pretty good.

Really? If anything, I would've liked more dialogue to explain what the hell was actually going on.

I haven't read any of the books, and I all the other movies I've really enjoyed (while my friends that have read the books walk away ranting furiously), but this one seemed to skim past an awful lot. Like those guys that come and collect Harry right at the start, after him and fatboy are attacked by Dementors. I would've liked some more backstory to them. Colour-changing-hair-girl was cool. And maybe I wasn't paying enough attention in the previous movies, but I didn't really get why Harry has such a close bond with Sirius while everyone else sees him as a bad guy.

Bah, I'll stick to my Tolkien. I always figured that Harry Potter showed fantasy from a child's perspective, and Tolkien was high fantasy from an adult perspective; but now I have the Children of Húrin, of the childhood of Túrin Turambar and his childhood in Doriath. woot.

They're a handful of guys from the Order of the Phoenix. The Order was established by Dumbledore the first time Voldemort attempted to rise to power, and since his return has been reformed. They have to operate in secret however, due to the current Ministry's stance on You-Know-Who.

The Dementors, incidentally, attacked Harry under Umbrige's orders.

Nymphadora Tonks, distant cousin to Sirius Black, is a metamorphmagus, which means she can change her appearance at will. She recently finished training to be an Auror (a dark wizard catcher), and has joined the Order of the Phoenix.

Sirius is Harry's godfather, and was Harry's father's best friend. He was framed for the murder of over a dozen people, sent to Azkaban, and then broke out and attempted to commit one of the murders he was committed for. He's not a "bad guy," although he can be a bit reckless which is why Hermione and Mrs Weasley don't think the best of him. And Snape absolutely loathes him, due to events when they went to Hogwarts together.

Well, while I think the first two Harry Potter books are intended for children, the others were written for a much wider audience. And while they're certainly not genius literature, they do have great stories and create a great world, of which the movies are a shallow representation.

This one was based on an 800 page book, the longest in the series. They had to cut alot.
The 4th one was 700ish pages.
The third was like 400.
And the first two weren't more than 3 or 4 hundred I think.

Oh I didn't mean the intended audience of Harry Potter was children, I don't think it is, I mean that the story itself is that of a child and his growing up in a fantasy environment. The characters of The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion, and Book of the Lost Tales; these are all generally 'adults' (the concept of 'adult' has different meanings for Men and Hobbits, and Dwarves and Elves). This itself changes the context of the stories being told.

That bit sucked in the movie. In the book it's a very intense and exciting battle between Death Eaters and the Order which is rather hard to put down, and Sirius' death is quite touching. In the movie it was... 'Meh'.
