I'm interning at Sony Imageworks and I'm working on that show

(Well, to be specific, the 3D version of it. But still. The non-3D pod is like down the hall and it's pretty much the same show.)

It's looking awesome.

[Edit: DUDE I just realized that I worked on that trailer!! (Not in anything actually impressive... i.e. none of the modeling lighting animation hah)]

I liked the Epic, but this looks kind of dumb.

It'll almost certainly be some kind of cheezy action with no resemblance to the original other than some names. It bugs me because you could make a really good movie from this too.

I love Robet Zemeckis' films but I think what they're doing with this film, although cool, isn't really necessary. Especially when everyone looks kind of plastic.

And Obi, from what I've read, it had to be toned down because it was too much like the original poem.

But... but...

Beowulf is that weird story that is confusing and blurry... with a guy that rips things apart with his strong "grip".

They can't just go and make a movie about it so that the uncultured will know who he is. :hist101:

What next? The Divine Comedy?

[edit] Actually, the Divine Comedy would kick serious butt.

The script was written and produced by Neil Gaiman, so I have great faith that the movie will be excellent at least as far as that goes.

I don't get why it's CG though.

I thought it was live action until I saw the dragon and the whip. I still say Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within has the best CGI characters to date, and that movie came out in 2001 (I think)

I don't know, I've never read Beowulf. Although I think the movie is going for a PG-13 rating, which most likely has something to do with that.

The two Beowulf films I've seen so far were AWFUL. Hopefully this one will be in any way better.

*remembers Beowulf whipping out akimbo repeating crossbows as a scantily leaderclad she-warrior kicks butt with a gigantic sword*

Oh, and I think that was the one where Grendel's mother's death scene was like a softcore porn. :psyduck:

It's not all straight CGI. It uses a digitization process similar to 300.

I have actually read Beowulf, but I spaced out for most of the book. I was also 13 at the time and didn't want to read something my dad wanted me to read. I read enough to give him a good outline so he'd stop bothering me with it. >_>

I'm watching the 20 minutes worth of footage we prepped for Comicon in about an hour. Woot.

Btw, watch the 3d version. It actually makes it seem more "HD" and makes the sfx even more awesomer.

Well, from the footage I saw today ... getting a PG-13 rating is going to be pushing it. There's ample amounts of violence/blood/gore (even better in 3D!) along with sexuality and lots of naked or people (male and female, pseudo full-frontal)

Also, the story's not exactly like the original poem. It's been thickened ish, I think.
