I liked it. I've only ever seen about four Simpsons episodes, but I liked it.

PS: It's kind of weird how I've hardly ever watched the show, but I was familiar with almost every character in the movie.

The movie FAR exceeded my expectations. I was amazed at how really accessible they made it, as evidence by Vinny's reaction. You do not need to be a Simpsons fanboy to enjoy it. There are certainly the insider jokes that the fans will enjoy, but it was still consistently accessible nonetheless. It had some very tight writing, and some awesome one-liners. They recruited their best writers from previous seasons for the movie, and it really showed.

Let me preface by saying I loved the movie, everyone was rolling in the aisles the entire thing.

This annoyed me. I wanted some fan service, some in-jokes. There was barely any references to jokes in the show, which kind of irked me coming out. The only real reference was when they jumped over Springfield Gorge, and I thought that was kind of nice, but that was it.

I went into this movie thinking that they would be trying to include too many characters, and that trying to get them all into 90 minutes was going to slaughter the script.

I was wrong, this is possibly one of the funniest movies ive ever seen. I never stopped laughing, and neither did anyone else in the theatre. I have never seen an audience laugh so hard that at times you could not hear the people next to you, it was impossible to be quiet at all. Walking past the theatre as people are watching it, you can hear them laughing from the concession stand and sometimes from the next theatre.

This movie is fantastic, the jokes are clever, and there are tons of punchlines you never see coming. The jokes are solid from start to finish, and sometimes i thought id suffocate laughing.

WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The spider-pig/Harry Plopper trailer made my brain hurt. Are you saying that it's just an exception to an otherwise funny and entertaining flick? I'm really hoping so:( .

Spiderpig is awesome. If you don't think so you're a humorless sod who's going to die alone.

Well I think I have a pretty decent taste in humour! But I won't argue with you on the dying alone bit...

Fish and I saw it at midnight.

Spiderpig was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

The whole movie was fantabulous.

Spiderpig, Spiderpig.
Does whatever a spiderpig does.
Can he swing,
from a web?
No he can't,
He's a pig.
Look out!
He is a spider pig.

Screened it Wednesday, loved it. I've been singing spiderpig since.

*flash* "I like men now!"

And the whole part with bart being censored quite cleverly and then BAM convenient crotch level hole in a bush was absolutely hilarious, it took everyone completely by surprise. :D

Yes, it did.

In fact, they used all there movie given freedoms from censorship well. They didn't throw in all the nastiest things they could at inapropriate times to get shock value, they used only what they needed when it was genuinley funny. In fact, most of there jokes could easily have been done in a PG movie, it was just good old-fashioned cleverness that made it so funny. Whereas alot of movies are really predictable they did alot of things you never saw coming at just the right times, and it worked out pretty well.

Yeah, crudely drawn cartoon wang apparently revolted everyone in the theater. I was more laughing at their reaction than the actual scene. Although that was damn clever, what they did.

Meh, like all things Simpsons it had me chuckling while it was going, but left me unsatisfied.

I thought the spiderpig thing was monumentally stupid.

If I was an admin I'd ban you right now.

I think saberopus' new title should be "spiderpig hater"

Yeah, I thought the Spider-Pig thing was silly in the trailer, but it was better in the movie.

And Zell, where do you live? Everyone in my showing laughed at the wang, I don't think anyone was revolted.
2007-07-27, 11:09 PM #19
Perhaps I phrased it wrong. Revolted in a way that they laughed thier asses off, but many people were also going 'uggghhhhh'. Much the same reaction to the naked wrestling scene in Borat. :suicide:

Man, human nudity is so nasty. I'd rather see eyes being blow-torched than a man's dingaling!

the whole eco thing was a bit over the top at times, but it was a really funny movie. i was irritated at the audience though, because people would scream with laughter over stuff that should just get a chuckle. i think the theater was receiving complaints about this, because the movie volume was considerably louder than i've ever remembered.

The volume was really loud for my screening too! Maybe it was that reason. There was a guy right in front of me who had this really annoying, piercing laugh that laughed at everything.

People in my theatre would go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH," which I find quite annoying. It's not even "Oooooh" appropriate, either. Like.. grinding a rail on a skateboard, then having your board snap in two and you groin yourself? That is "OOOOOH" worthy.

But seeing bart's wang, or when the pollution spreads all over Lake Springfield? Not "ooooh" worthy.

I think the only beef I had with it was the excessive use of 3D models... and the 2 seconds of wang

Yeah, I was a little surprised as to how much was computer generated. But it's less time consuming and I don't think the average person notices it, so I don't really blame them.

well, its the same people that did Futurama, and Futurama did a ton of 3D models for cars/ships and such
