Resident Evil

The only RE game I've played is RE4, but I want to explore the rest of the series. I know there's been a bunch of remakes and ports and stuff, so could someone suggest which titles I should get and in what order? I've got a PS2 and a Wii.

Get the Resident Evil 1 remake for Gamecube to play on your Wii. Start with that.

Resident Evil (Remake for Gamecube)
Resident Evil 0

Resident Evil 2 is considered the best by most. RE3 was okay. I prefer 4 because of it's controls. The controls in RE games drove me bonkers until 4. It's because the others were all pre-rendered backgrounds.
Think while it's still legal.

You can play all of the important RE games on wii (Through Gamecube ports)

I'd go RE1, RE2, RE3, Code: Veronica, RE0

(RE0 is a prequel, and can spoil some story elements)

you can get the whole series on gamecube. i have all 6 of them. 0 is pretty good, the switching between 2 people system is good. the REmake is alright, nothing really very new about it. 2 is good, it also stars Leon. 3 i believe is a lot like 2 only with Jill instead of leon. and Veronica ive heard is alright.

the only thing that ps2 has exclusive are the 2 Outbreak games, but i don't think those really advance the story any.

Well, you have to understand that everything will be fairly outdated compared to RE4, and the play-scheme will not be nearly as action-packed.

My personal favorite was RE2, the first game with leon kennedy. It was my introduction to the series, and I found it to be the most harrowing, scary, and it had a good story.

For the Wii, get the Gamecube remake of Resident Evil with updated graphics. (I don't think it's on PS2)

For PS2, get RE2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and RE3, in that order

And, if you're drunk, Resident Evil: 0 for Gamecube/Wii.
I'm not sure if it came out for PS2.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly revolutionary, and when I beat it, it felt like a pointless addition to the story.

Alright thanks.

I'm halfway through the Castle in RE4... if I continue will it spoil the other games?

And yeah, I know the gameplay is different. I may have even played one once, but I don't remember... I could be thinking of Dino Crisis which I believe is similar.

I hate this word and wish people would stop calling it this.

(I mean, the trailer for the game even goes as far as calling it "REBIRTH," thats a much cooler way of putting it)

Not really, but don't play the side games.

Oh, if I find the original ones for PSx, should I bother?

Only on number one, if you want to see hilariously bad voice acting and horribly acted cutscenes.

Well, if you haven't already met Ada Wong , then yes. She's a character was thought to be dead at the end of the second game.

Does it ruin much by continueing playing?
Other than the fact she's still alive , not really.

No one thought Ada was dead at the end..

In RE2 she

She very clearly throws you the rocket launcher to kill the G-virus enhanced Mr. X.
2007-07-28, 9:17 PM #15
I could have sworn she fell from the giant scaffolding to her death. And I beat the final dude with nothing left by my knife, I don't remember anyone throwing me a rocket launcher... but I haven't played the game since elementary school.

She falls off of the catwalk in that one room, but when you fight Mr. X after a certain event she calls out to you and you see a silloutte throw you a rocket launcher. But it was definately her.

Well, I put Resident Evil on hold. Unfortunately I only have 48 cents in my bank account right now... They also had an SNES that I put on hold. Hopefully I can get that tomorrow.

lol, 48 cents? The minimum to open one in most places is five dollars. I guess that doesn't apply after withdrawals.

RE4 is one of my favorite games, and is the only game in the series I can stand to play. If they would remake the old games to be more like RE4's gameplay, I would be overjoyed.

Because he's a fan of the silent hill series.

The series where you can just run around all the monsters.

Code Veronica was my favorite of the series.

RE4 - Tons of Zombies, More than enough ammo.
Other RE games - Shoot 3 bullets the entire game....because that's all the ammo you can find.
Think while it's still legal.

The other RE games can still be fun... but running around in a big circle clipping at a zombie's legs with your knife every encounter isn't my thing.

anyone else think the midget guy and the other enemies in RE4 were kind of 'gay' compared to the previous ones.

Constrictive controls that make you feel like you're guiding a retard, constrictive camera angles that make shooting feel like you're guiding a retard, nonsensical puzzles that involve backtracking the map for one single key for a door just so you can open more doors, and the lack of bullets, and the stupid and boring storylines.

They're just really really bad games. I am not poopooing them for their age, I've hated them since the first one I've played. Every subsequent game has been the same thing, save RE4.

The midget guy and his big concrete robot were lame, but his goddamn bodyguards were ****ing badass... el diablo was cool too (the red robed guy w/ the horns). He had some neato music.

I think it's usually 'pooh-poohing' as in belittling, not 'poo-pooing' as in '****-****ting'.

Also, I have never played a Resident Evil game.

Play RE4 if you like Action-Horror games. Play the others if you like Survival-Horror games.

Well, I got it, and I kinda like it. The combat and controls are miserable, but it's a pretty game.

I hate only being able to carry six items though.

Same, I always ran out of bullets too fast because I can't stop myself from shooting everything I see. I remember renting RE2 for the Sega Saturn a long time ago, and I didn't like it. I'll definitely give RE5 a try though since it seems to be more like 4.

Thats what you get for picking Chris.

Er, I don't know why I said six. I'm playing as Jill.

She gets better weapons than Chris, sadly. :(

Getting back to the Ada Wong discussion...

She's very clearly part of the same organization that pays Wesker, and since Wesker has taken the T-Virus in some degree, I think you can assume she has as well, which is why she survived the fall in RE2

Also she's hot.
