I'm not drunk, cause we're not supposed to post when drunk... So HI. Hope you are all as sober as I am on this fine Saturday night.

I'm actually quite high.

That is to say, I've got a high completion rate on the homework I'm working on now, just a few chapters left and summer school's over.

Sarn, your sig has always bugged me. Sure, if you choose not to make a choice, you have made a decision. But what if you don't choose not to make a decision? ...have you made a choice? I don't think so.

Hey man... Argue with RUSH if you have a problem with it.

But no. If you don't make a decision, then you've either chosen 1) to not make a decision, or 2) to not care enough to do any research about said subject.

But anyway, it's basically a call for people to not be so complacent about things. Take a stand! DAMNIT!

Either that would just be straight-up choosing, or you would not be in control over the "choice" process, in which case, it's not a choice for you. Sarn's quote is meant to make a statement on people who would sit on the sidelines, like the demon from Dogma... at least, that's how I've understood his signature.

well... not specifically..

More like against anyone that chooses not to make a stand against something.

As far as agnostics are concerned that is an example. If an agnostic does not believe one way or another about God, they've made a choice to not make a decision.

[Let's face it, there's pretty much no one that hasn't been given enough information to make a decision regarding religion. If they remain on the sidelines, it's a pretty safe bet that they've chosen to do so.]

Oh god... I was afraid you were going to say that. You are totally wrong. Agnostics don't "choose not to decide." They "choose to acknowledge that they don't know and never will." There's a pretty damn big difference.

right, and that's still a choice to remain on the sidelines... what's your point?

No it isn't. It is quite a valid third alternative for the case where there is no available information about the so-called "decision." This option is as strong a choice as the others, and quite possibly more reasonable.

right, so they've "decided" that there's not enough information to make a yes/no decision.

bugger off.

Right, so all I'm saying is that decision is not "sitting on the fence" as you call it. It's a strong choice, like the others, that makes a non-fence-sitting statement.

I'm sober because I'm on call 24/7 for my job. I only have two days after I get back from a dispatch for true drunken debauchery.

I've never ingested a drop of alcohol in my life, unless you count cough syrup. And even then, only a few spoonfuls ever.

i was around plenty of drunks last night, but i was the dd... i really hate being the only person not drinking, simply because drunk people piss me off when i'm sober moreso than when i'm drinking.

I feel a bit drunk still. I was going to have a nice, casual night, lounging around sans pants, then a couple lady friends had to come over and say "let's go out somewhere tonight! We want to get smashed!" It's a tough life I lead.

I haven't been drunk in a long, long time but I've been taking excessive amounts of flexeril for chronic tension headaches. It feels like drunk minus the fun. .(
