A chart question...
2007-07-29, 7:34 AM #1
The question is:

Of the following age groups of Country B, which show figures almost identical to those for Country A in the 40-54 age group?

A. 5-14
B. 10-19
C. 30-44
D 40-54
E. over 50

I don't see either of them showing similar figures to 40-54 Country A stats anywhere... What am I missing?

And another one, which I don't seem to understand:

In the case of Country A, for which age group is it true that approximately identical parts of the population are younger and older than the members of the group?

A. 20-24
B. 25-29
C. 30-34
D 35-39
E. 40-44

Halp, Massassi, you're my only hope!

For the first question, County B's 30-44 population adds up to about 16%, which is around the same as county A's 40-54 percentage of 18%.

For question two, add up the percentages for all of the age groups of County A on either side of each option. Whichever age group has about the same sum of percentages above and below will be your answer. Just don't count the actual age group's percentage in either the above or below group.

Excel sucks for regularly putting the x-axis tic marks/labels between the columns they are supposed to identify.

Thanks, Bobbert. I can't believe I didn't get it at first. Humanitarian unis do that to you - I haven't had to deal with being logical for 3 years. :P

"What am I missing?"

An apostrophe in "figures."
