Actually it was an introduction to computer programing... first stage C++ which in turn == dozer.
2003-12-24, 9:37 AM #10
Well let's break down this list...

Computer Technology Basics--Oh, RAM, that's hard :P

Essential Mathematics--Algebra?

Introduction to Computing--he said C++, probably one of the most basic programming languages out there to learn...yah...

English I--And a verb is an action word...

Career & College Success Skills--May be hard, couldn't say, but somehow, I doubt it. :/

Desktop Operating Systems--If anything, just frustrating. I mean, if you have to use Mac OSX, then you're going to be ripping your hairs out one by one. The only real challenge here is maybe configging windows, and Linux...yah...

Not too impressed here, but good grades I guess?

How the **** can I control what courses they decide to teach me?
2003-12-24, 9:51 AM #12
Those are all easy courses.

Of COURSE a forumite is going to ace "Computer Technology Basics."

You know how you control the courses they want to teach you? Quit High School.

Take your High School Proficiency Exam and get your GED, then just go to college where they let you choose your stuff.

Those still look like very easy courses for college. I could probably pass them even though i am in high school.
correction: i could still probably pass them with the same grade as you.

You did excellent.

Which, strangely, is just barely good enough. Try harder, underachiever.

To be fair, when I did a Computer Science course a few years ago I had no choice on which subjects I did during the first year and oh boy, did I have to do some stupid *** subjects.

Well, my first semester for Comp Sci I had College Comp I, Computer Science & Programming, Discrete Math, Calculus II, and World History After 1500. Originally, I was assigned to take Calculus I and Computing Environment (which is just learning how to use Windows and Office, bleh). I had to take a different math course, since I already had credit for Calc I from my AP test. Lost my Comp Env due to my schedual change and took a history instead. Had I not changed my schedual, mine probably would have been similar to yours, in terms of difficulty. I guess you could have gotten out of those courses, but it's probably better to take the free GPA boost early on.

I think it really just depends on where you go. I assume that most schools want you to get used to college in the first semester, then worry about making sure you get your diploma. They know they need your money, so why alienate students so early during their college experience?
