What movie was this?

The chances of anyone figuring out what the hell I'm talking about are very slim, but it's worth a shot.

I remember watching some movie (I think it was on Showcase, so it might have been a Canadian indy film) in the late 90s, probably 1999. The plot was something like this:

-For some reason life on Earth is about to come to an end. I think it had something to do with the sun, because it was constantly bright out, even at night.

-The main character (he was Caucasian, and I think he had dark curly hair) at some point meets up with this Asian girl who is trying to make her way home, she has a briefcase with two pistols in it that are meant for her and her husband to commit suicide with just before the end comes. For some reason she never makes to it him and she commits suicide with the main character instead.

-The main character had a friend whose goal was to commit every sexual act he had ever hoped to before the end comes. He had these written on the walls of his apartment. I distinctly remember a line that went something like "Can you believe it? Up until last week I had never ****ed a girl in the *** before.". He was saving "mutual orgasm" for the moment before the end, because "If you're going, you might as well be cuming". He ends up finding some ugly chick who is willing to do this with him, and he has a hard time getting it up. I think in the end he is able to and fulfills his goal.

That's about all I remember. Any ideas?

Sounds like a family film, made by Disney, perhaps.

I dunno, only movie I'm aware of involving 'oh shiiite the world's gonna get shestroyed' and everyone's attempts to come to grips w/ dat is deep impact, aye? But it wasn't about the sun I suppose.

I would use the pistols to shoot the sun.

And was one of the guys goals to be ****ed up the ***?

Wasn't a Disney film (thanks for the suggestion, though) or Deep Impact.

Vin - Possibly. I'm not sure. What I've written is pretty much all I remember of the film.

IMDB.

Keyword: End of the World, Independent Film

Sort by Date

The very second one I clicked said it was a Canadian independent film and it was starring Sandra Oh, an Asian.

I hadn't realized IMDB allowed you to search by plot keywords, that's a really useful feature.

Thanks.

Oh, and as a funny side note, I now remember that the friend does indeed have being ****ed in the *** as one of his goals. He asks the main character to do this for him, but he declines.

I had never heard of this film before this thread. I decided to check it out from my store and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I thought the ending was fantastic.

I've only seen this film once before, and only the last hour of it. You have no idea how confusing it is to watch the last 2/3 of this film while drunk at 4:00AM. I had pretty much completely forgotten about it, but thanks to this thread, I'll have to take a trip to a rental shop tonight to watch the beginning to see if the movie makes more sense that way.

I don't think it had to do with the Sun, it went by timezones for some reason...

The man on the phone was a fairly depressing story, I couldn't imagine spending my last day on earth making quality assurance calls (or whatever exactly it was...something about A/C or something I think?).
