That's really stupid and makes no sense whatsoever, seeing as how this has NOTHING to do with the PS3.

Well speaking of PS3 games being delayed.

I was so anxious to buy it in 2 weeks too.

Sorry, but am I the only person who thinks this should be called GTAVI? I don't get why it's IV, is all
2007-08-02, 2:55 PM #8
Did people really expect it to be out in 2 months time anyway?
nope.

I was more making fun of Anovis threads, and how we always badger him about having a PS3.

It's technically GTAVII thanks to GTA London isn't it?
nope.
2007-08-02, 3:02 PM #11
Oh yeah, London. Isn't that an expansion, though? I wouldn't really count it.
2007-08-02, 3:09 PM #12
It had a standalone release too!

Infact there were 2 GTA london games set in different years I think.
nope.

In the same way that Vice City and San Andreas were expansions of III. I-II-III were all totally different. Vice City and San Andreas were pretty much just mods of III with a different story. The next one in the series, IV, is taking a big enough leap for it not to be just some spin off.

Also, it takes place in Liberty City again. That's also a big reason why it's IV.

If you include GTA:LCS and GTA VCS, then it's really GTA VIIII

And GTA Advance.
nope.
2007-08-02, 4:07 PM #17
GTA: III is all of this
  • Grand Theft Auto: III
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

GTAIV is "different" to where (I believe) there is no relevance to Liberty City, San Andreas, or Vice City at all. It's a new location with no connections to the old one.

I'm actually pleased it's delayed. Means my wallet will have time to recover from Bioshock, Halo 3 and Mass Effect.

Don't forget about Stranglehold Special Edition at the end of August too.

Another big fall/winter for console games. Having a delayed GTA means I can enjoy the other titles launching soon.

GTA IV is in Liberty City, which is where I, II and III were in. I think.

I think they count it by major engine changes, not gameplay locales.

About three hours into GTA:SA I realized I never wanted to play Grand Theft Anything again.

This game might change that, depending on how it turns out. If it really is way more realistic I'll probably go for it.

I always kinda wanted to see a GTA game that was in a more reality grounded world, kinda like Mafia.

Black people aren't realistic to you?

Racist.
2007-08-03, 1:28 PM #29
Heavy realism just wouldn't be GTA!
nope.

SA was the best of the bunch. Something's wrong with Antony.
Pissed Off?
2007-08-03, 1:51 PM #31
Well, this is horrible news. Unless they spend their time adding that much more content and making it run smoother, then it might be some good news. I've been looking forward to this game for awhile though, and there's only so many crime-sprees you can do in SA to keep yourself entertained in order to hold yourself over for IV.

SA had some of the most memorable characters in any game I've ever played.

Playing CJ was awesome.

I was 10 years old when I was first excited about DNF. I'm nostalgic about a game I haven't played yet :-(

Pity the crime-sprees were never that great in SA. The cops gave up too easy unless you got 5 stars. :(
nope.

The cops in SA were the bes way to increase fire arm skills, that and the early round of gang wars.

****ty framerates kicked GTA's *** at E3.

IMHO, GTA has a good reputation for providing great gameplay. I would rather them take extra time to sort out bugs, improve performance, etc...than rush GTA out the door. Meeting deadlines is important, but too much rush is a big hurt.

You could also empty tons of ammo into a parked car's wheels.
