Wrath of the Lich King

Ladies, and gents, while we all know that majority of our friends here will go, "Lol WoW!", those of us who like the game and enjoy it... I am please to present the new expansion to world of warcraft!

Wrath of the Lich King

In the cold, harsh northlands...
The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King's will and end his reign of terror for all time.

Blizzard Entertainment's latest expansion to World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. Players will achieve soaring levels of power, explore a vast new continent, and battle other high-level heroes to determine the fate of Azeroth. As you pit yourself against the dangers of the north, prepare to:
Features

* Master the necromantic powers of the Death Knight - World of Warcraft's first Hero class.
* Quest to level 80, gaining potent new abilities and talents along the way.
* Learn the craft of spell augmentation with the new Inscription profession.
* Brave the harsh new continent of Northrend, the icy domain of the Lich King.
* Engage in epic siege warfare, deploying mighty siege engines to lay waste to destructible buildings in your path.
* Transform your hero's look with new character-customization options, including new hairstyles and dances.
* Explore perilous new dungeons filled with some of the deadliest creatures -- and greatest treasures -- on Azeroth.
* And much, much more...

Haha level 80? Screw that.

Yeah, I just started EQII from WoW, and I may even get out of that, although it's loads of fun!

Hot. Makes me wish WoW wasn't so damn costly to simply play, both money-wise and time-wise. :(
DO NOT WANT.
2007-08-03, 1:24 PM #7
Yea, I'm running out of time to play. Thankfully, I have two level 70s so I'll still be able to enjoy the expansion even if I'm short on time.

Why do people play these?

All they do is add MORE grinding to the game every time they add an expansion.

Half the people I know that play WoW play it IN THE BACKGROUND while they're doing something else. What a boring game that sounds like.
2007-08-03, 1:26 PM #9
If all you do is level from 0-70 alone, then yea, the game is tedious. On the other hand, at least for me, the fun comes from the social interaction and cooperation when we do instances, but first and foremost, the RP is my fuel.

Roleplaying and weaving stories through the game is where I find my fun.

Ugh, I tried LOTRO, it really just isn't my cup of cake. The majority of roleplayers there are elitist dip****s who think that writing shakespearian monologues is good roleplay.

EverQuest II is 4150148148010x better than WoW in my opinion. And LotRO. But whatever :tfti:

That's true on some of the servers. Brandywine is pretty balanced. I may be biased because I've only played on that server, but from what I hear people often "convert" to a Brandywine player because they hear that the community is better. I have NO clue how that works, but it seems to be true at least for me.

I never have a shortage of people to quest with, and the game remains interesting. :)

I would like LOTRO if it wasn't Lord Of The Rings, or fantasy elves and boring crap.

Yea, I hear EQ2's changed for the better over the years. I used to play that before I played WoW.

I just have a big friend base in WoW now, wouldn't leave for all the gold in the world.

Internet friends are like cheap whores.

You can always find more.

If personal health/hygene did not deteriorate over time, and I had unlimited time, and a second version of myself to play the game whilst I do my "real life" activities, I would LOVE to play. Unfortunately, I wasted enough time getting to level 60 back in the day, and I quit over a year ago, with no plans to return.

Not good internet friends. I've known one since I was 10 and we've been through tons of **** together.

Don't turn this into another "lets sh-- on WoW" thread, we've had hundreds of them.

I'm kind of excited, I want some more info on Death Knight, hoping you don't have to be a Pally to unlock the class, unless they announce more hero classes for more standard classes.

However, at the same time, it pretty much tells my guild to stop raiding now. There's no point in getting new gear when it's all gonna be replaced by greens again in Northrend. I'm just gonna get more characters to 70 and have fun when WotLK comes out. That's why I've never been a big fan of constant level cap upgrades and such. (I'm a bigger fan of FFXI's expansion pack model)

They've already released a crapload of info at blizzcon. Instead of mana / rage / energy the Death Knight uses runes. The amount and kind of runes you have is decided by what you put into your weapon before combat (They aren't items). Different spells cost different amounts and kinds of runes, and the runes regenerate as combat goes on.

Any class and race can unlock the death knight. After a series of quests (No raiding is confirmed) about as hard as a warlock epic mount quest (For a 60 warlock, of course) you can create a seperate DK character that starts at a high level. Your character doesn't become the death knight.

I can't wait for other hero classes in the future :D

I'm not trying to thread-crap or anything, since WoW certainly has it's own merits, but the Witch King certainly came first.

Oh wow (pun unintended), that looks pretty cool. I wouldn't have thought Blizz was going to let players take on the Lich King that soon! I heard a rumor from one of the devs long ago that players had to be at least level 90 before taking on the lich king. Also, the fact they're adding in a hero class I'm sure is causing quite a stir in the wow community. Players still complain about the current classes as it is, adding in a new one is really going to be interesting.

I hope they have another contest that'll allow players to get a spot in the closed beta (assuming there will be another one). I won a spot last time :D and leveled one of my characters to level 68 before the end of the beta.

My account has been canceled since January and I didn't bother to get the last expansion so all my characters at around level 60. I'll have a lot to catch up on if I would get the next expansion. I kinda made an oath to myself though not to ever play wow ever again because paying 15 bucks per month for a game isn't really worth for most MMOs these days, hence why I spend most of my time player Guild Wars.

I'm sure Odin made one or twelve hundred of those at some point during his reign.
