IBM Interview - Wish Me Luck
2007-08-05, 1:35 PM #1
So. ne of my newer friends happens to work within IBM's Storage Area Network division in Boulder, and the last trainee they hired on really hasn't been working out for them. So, he's been pushing the last month or so to get my resumee reviewed and hopefully get me in there before they have to can the last guy. Long story short, I has an impending phone interview with them, most likely tomorrow morning. Got several documents to familiarize myself with first, and an overview meeting with my friend tonight. And I'm kinda intimidated :p But I'd love any vibes or such any of y'all might have to spare. :D

Also in case anyone's been wondering why I've been so absent [particularly my 'potters], I've spent a lot of July helping a friend pack and move into her new apartment. We finally got moved in last weekend and everything's shiny. Then June was mostly devoted to writing a screenplay under the auspices of http://scriptfrenzy.org/

But yeah.. thought I'd check in and let y'all know what's been up in case anyone cares ;)
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Dor! We've been totally missing you in the 'pot, since Anovis thinks he's king waving that operator title around.

Good luck on the interview, if you get it, I expect pictures of you in a suit.

I had an interview with IBM's Retail Hardware division a few years ago. Fairly lightweight stuff, eg, basic system configuration, networking, printing, etc.
You'll probably run into something a bit toughter. seeing as its their SAN division.

Good luck.

Ive gotta tell you, though, I envy you.

I and my roommate last summer had an internship at IBM for 6 months, 3 for him.

Anyway our internship was in Tucson, Az and his project had something to do with the DB2 Database engine, and my own project was to "modernize" the regression testing suite for the OAM department for the z/OS mainframe operating system..

Anyway it certainly is a nice place to work at! All of my co-workers were great! But sadly myself didn't do all that great there, I end up disliking the work and the operating system, but I'll still admit that it was a terrific learning experience tho!

Yar.. we'll see how it goes. I'm supposed to drive down to the plant tomorrow afternoon for it. Trepidation!

I'll be working primarily with handling enterprise data centers, fiber line storage bank maintenence and customer requests with Infinity 10k Directory FICON systems it looks like.

Thanks for the good wishes!

And GBK.. I never thought I'd live to see the day where you envied me for anything technical. ;)
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Don't be so quick -- Ive always admired the shots of your desktops you've posted, even to the point of implementing some of their features in my own systems.

w00t! I just got a call this morning from their hiring agent and looks like I got it! :DDDD

I totally didn't think I would, felt like I flubbed the interview kinda bad, but seems not.

I start in a week or so, under the grand and honorable title of SAN Storage Specialist or sommat similar. I'll post more once I start and let y'all know how it is.

Thanks for all the vibes, I think they must have helped! :D
