Has anyone ever had rollerblade wheels disintegrate?

One of the wheels on my rollerblades pretty much just fell apart (the plastic grippy stuff came apart). I took them back to the store and the guy replaced it for free, but now the new wheel is covered in wrinkles/cracks and I think it's going to go in a few days. When it does, I guess I'll go back to the shop, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

Yeah that's happened to me before but I didn't really know what to do besides get replacment wheels... which also broke in a couple months after being put in. I got frustrated with having to spend more money on them so I didn't bother to repair them the last time.

Only that time I was rollerblading near a landing party and a phaser hit my rollerblade wheels.

depends on how often you skate, with me it used to be my main mode of transport. wore down pretty quick, so i needed to.

mayhaps they just make wheels bladly now, or you guys caught a bad batch. *shrug* now that i live in a place with no sidewalks, i dont skate much anymore. pity really. now i'm fat.

... I had no idea people were still roller blading... I never got into it, and I thought it died with the 90s.

I used to, but I never had any wheels throw some rubber.

Yeah, it's around.

Best bet is to get some aggro-inline wheels (rubber w/ plastic core), although they de-core after a while they can take some PUNISHMENT (I've had the ones on my skates for about 3 years now, though they usually don't last that long). Costs a lot--about 20-30 bucks for a set of 4 (which most people only use 4 wheels in aggro, or if they use more it's anti-rocker [middle wheels smaller than the outer ones, made only so it's not unstable and at the same time easier to roll over objects]).

I need to get some new skates though...my shima's are starting to show some wear and tear, and first gen ground controls aren't the best frames to be sporting. Too bad I don't have 300 bucks to throw around.

Moral of the story: Don't buy plastic wheels.

I think my wheels are the kind you're describing, Yoshi. Maybe I'll post a pic.
