50 Cent says he'll quit putting out albums if Kanye West outsells him on his next release.

Like I said, if only this wasn't some lame marketing ploy, I would actually go out and buy Kanye West albums.

Jeez. 50 Cent doesn't deserve to even consider himself a competitor of Kanye West.

I agree and I don't really have an interest in Rap music.

....**** both of them. Outkast, or Big Boi/Andre solo albums are the only things I'm looking forward to in that genre.

Kanye ruined it for me by his cheapshot at Bush because he only went halfway. He should've said, "George Bush doesn't care about poor people."

To me, 50 Cent's raps are ghetto/gangster tripe for the most part with nothing memorable about them.

He shouldn't have said anything like that, but I'm glad he did. Comedy gold!

Except that that would be lame cliche, and half-way untrue. Every poltician knows that poor people are an important voter block.

Kinda the same, except I look forward to a lot more (though I can see why you're into Outkast--go go gadget georgia) and I still enjoy Kanye's music (especially since he's been going nerdcore lately like crazy). 50 Cent has a couple good songs, but his image makes me hate him (as does his popular songs).

1) Don't continue this thread like this. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TOPIC.
2) As a side note (not to incur argument) poor people actually effect the vote less than you think--it's electoral college which is pressured more by well-funded interest groups.

Actually, 50 sells a lot more albums than you realize because of the "gangsta life" mentality most people have in the inner city. Even if you don't like his music, a lot of people do, and he does have some excellent instrumentals.

He doesn't have them.

The producer and the session musician do.

I mean, fitty doesn't exactly play any instruments.. or you know, know much about music theory.

How do you know? For all you know he could be a drummer, and a lot of Rap artists had to produce their own records/albums before they got big. You have no clue what you're talking about (although admittedly most of his instrumentals are done by Rich Boy and other producers in the game nowadays), and although I hate his lyrics, hate his attitude, hate his image, his instrumentals (which yes, they do belong to the 50 cent name, or at least the record label he attaches himself to) are good.

Have you heard any of his "early work?"

It's pretty horrible. (like if you can imagine worse stuff than what he releases now, it's that bad)

I won't attribute the work to him just because he slaps his name on it extra big.

As a matter of fact I have a few friends who are into "hustler rap" (as the genre's called) which includes groups like Chamillionaire, 50 cent, Paul Wall, et al. I've heard his earlier stuff, it's no worse than most rapper's early stuff, the only thing is the lyrics are suitably just as ****ty as they are nowadays.

You're a bigoted fool who just sees things the way he sees them. Do I like 50? No. Am I gonna say he has no talent or that everything he does is ****? No. Because it's not true. I just don't have an ear for that kind of music, and there are still plenty of people out there who do.

I'm just trying to say, the beats from his earlier work all sounded like stock keyboard affairs to me. :/

Alot of people had a ear for the Spice Girls. That doesn't mean they were really any good, or that they played any instruments on their albums.

You know, just sayin.
2007-08-13, 1:13 PM #27
No, a lot of 12 year old girls had an ear for the Spice Girls.

I don't consider them "people" musically, I consider them beings whose brains have been replaced with stupid.

50 Cent has a legitimate following, as much as you may not like it.

Jessica Simpson has a "legitamate following" too.

Doesn't mean either person is that particularly talented.

The Sex Pistols had a pretty large following, and Sid couldn't even play.

Hahaha lolz.

I can rarely understand what the man is saying.
But rolling down state street in my white(ish) 1991 Plymouth Acclaim with that song bumping is a favorite past time of mine.

Also, the point of the Sex Pistols was not exactly talented musicianiship. Lots of people put things down (not always music) because it doesn't fit their fancy, when they completely missed the point of the thing in the first place.

I just want to throw in this random bit about the Sex Pistols. They used to deliberately pick instruments they couldnt play like the violin and they'd go into the London Underground to busk. The idea was that once people gave them money they'd go away.
nope.
