The Bourne Supremacy

Just got back from seeing it. I enjoyed the action and acting more than the Bourne Identity's, but the story wasn't as rich. It felt more like a standalone film than a sequel, which is how I feel all sequels should be.

The Bourne Identity was awesome, best car chase since Ronin. Really looking forward to Supremacy.

You'll like the tunnel chase in Supremacy, it was intense.

Read the books when I was 11, loved the first film, aching to see the sequel...

Um... there was about the same amount. Wait.. nevermind just remembered that whole sniper sequence in the first one. Besides, who doesnt like seeing Bourne kick everyone's *** without firing a shot?

I liked it a lot more than the first.

And that sort of ruined the overall experience for me.

The first one was excellant, just saw Supremacy last night. Not really what I was expecting. The story felt uninspired like the first. Still very good though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I couldn't stand the use of shaky cam. The camera. Would not. Stop. Shaking.

I agree with the shaky cam complaint...I'm sure they were trying to convey confusing nature of the plot and hectic nature of the action but it was just nauseating.

My review somewhere else:

I just got back from seeing the "bourne Supremacy"

Great movie, tons of action, lots of spy stuff, good story, one of the better popcorn flick movies this summer.

It had nothing to do with tbe book. seriously, I can name 10 minimum things that were totally different from it and the book. The chances of a third movie are moderate. If there is one, I would venture to say there will be 10% as similar as the book, just like this one is about 15-20% of the book, and the first one, the bourn identity, was about 30% of the book. These are very good movies, VERY great movies. I just wish they were "adaptations."

Imagine watching the Lord of the Rings and seeing Gandalf teaming up with Saruman to stop the ghosts from the paths of the dead from attacking Sauron, or seeing Frodo Visit the ents, or seeing bilbo mystically appear in shelob's lair. If you feel disgusted or bothered by that in any way, then you'll have somewhat of an understanding of what it's like to watch such a terrible "adaptation" of the bourne books...despite that the movies are very cool.

If you wanted a purists Bourne Identity, you'd be appealing to a tiny audience:

1. The film would need to be set 20 odd years ago.
2. Therefore no cool gadgets and stuff like that. Even mobile phones. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
3. You would need a lovely [read harrowing] rape scene.
4. The international terrorist Carlos the Jackal, having been caught in real life, would make a pretty shoddy villain [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I'm really impressed at teh way they took teh character of Bourne, and stuck him in our present - I reckon it's the only way to do the film without it becoming a nostaligia trip, distracting from the plot...

So true. It was incredibly difficult to follow some of the fight scenes.

Havn't seem either Identity of Supremacy (want to see both, just havn't bothered to rent the first yet). Just out of curiousity, what will the third film be called? (I've already read in several places that both films are part of a trillogy, but havn't found any mention of the third film's title)

Robert Ludlum.

The movie was excellent, probably the best action flick I've seen so far this year, and I don't expect I'll see a better one before the year ends. Great fun.

The third book is called The Bourne Ultimatum. No doubt at all it will be made now, considering how well Supremacy is doing.

Arg! Got there first! just 5 minutes earlier. Still, thanx anyway. Wonder how they'll twist the plot for the final film.... (those of you who saw supremacy should be able to speculate)
