Was playing a couple rounds of some halo before heading off to my real life called a job! I usually do pretty good anymore got a good hang of the super pistol and driving so i can make some people very aggitated by just how simple the game has become in general. I don't trash talk or say much at all just mind my own business and then all of a sudden someone goes "screw you, you stupid cheater nerd <deleted childish insult>" then leaves the server. I find the irony laughable how im the one just playing casually enjoying myself and the people that react oh so negatively and get very huffy and puffy over of all things a game. There's no reason to get that mad over a game, like i said its just humourous to see how serious people take all this virtual reality lol. :downswords:

There's no reason to get mad at a game, unless it's a fighting game where you can be beat by someone spamming one attack.
I had a blog. It sucked.

There's little reason to get that mad over any disparity in skill. Instead of huffing about how you're better than them or how you must have cheated, they would be better off a) doing something they're better at or b) just practicing/playing more to increase in skill. :P

I get that a lot in soldier front (free crappy online copy of C.S.). I'll enter a game, and don't cuss any one out, only speak when I need to, and I usually own most people, and I get called a hacker, lagger, glitcher and tapper (the last two are common terms in SF). Its funny when I get called a lagger, and their ping is like 350, and mine is around 78-98.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Oy... what ever happened to the days of JK? Where people rarely were asses in games? Rude, maybe. But never really asses.

Last game I played online was JK. I've got no incentive to play online with the reputation of other players as it is.

What you've got to do is find things like clan-run snipers-only servers. They tend to have strict rules and people actually there to enforce them. You also avoid most of the riff-raff because they're too cool to play snipers-only. Some of the best online gaming I've done was on a dedicated snipers-only server for CoD

Half life games are funny that way too. What brings to mind is CPF who often played TFC at jigglypuff's server
Try saying "fists=peace" or "crowbar=peace" in that game

snipers? rifles > snipers.

I think you misunderstand. On a real sniper server you actually have to play like a sniper. Trying to run around and blast people in the face will get you killed.

I do love a good rifle game too.

That seems to completely eliminate any point in playing. If everyone is playing a sniper and hiding, waiting for some poor schmuck to come waltzing past, no one will ever make a kill, because everyone will be hiding and waiting for the non existent poor schmuck.

I realize this is not completely true, and people will likely relocate and very cautiously move through the level looking for targets, but then its not so much sniper role playing as it is, well... sneaking through a level with a sniper rifle looking for a target.

Boring if you ask me. Then again, I've never played it.

Probably a little of both. But online gaming as a whole has probably skyrocketed since the JK days of yore, introducing more "scum" to the mixture.

Same here. JK was the last game I spent any significant time online playing. I've tried CoD 2. I've tried Halo 2. I've tried Gears of War. I was in the Halo 3 Beta. CoD 2 just frustrated me to no end. I've never been able to figure out why. Halo 2 is a breeding ground for idiocy and *******ry unless you have a pretty varied group of friends to play with. Gears completely disappointed me. I know people here swear by it, but to this day I've never once had a good time playing it, because I've never played a game where people actually communicated and didn't rush the other team. The Halo 3 beta, was, honest to god, the only good time I've had playing a game online since JK. The problem was, that good time only lasted about a week and a half. I think around that time the "scum" showed up and started learning how to make people miserable.

So going back to Koobie's question... maybe it is more of the makeup of people playing now, and not so much the game. My experience with Halo 3 would seem to confirm that much.

I only play JA with friends or in one server that I play in, one with very strict rules and people to enforce them. I actually don't think I've seen a "OMG T3H N00B U H4X B1G T1M3 I H8 U" or a "1 R B3T4R CUZ I R T3H 1337"

Red Orchestra isn't bad...at least on the servers I play on. Granted you get the odd guy who can't stop killing his teamates, but that's more often than not the result of a poorly aimed and/or timed grenade in a tightly constricted area. I've accidentally shot my some of my teammates because Ruskie tank crews wear blueish uniforms like your average German and it gets hard to tell things apart at long distances without a sniper scope.

Granted the teamwork thing is sort of iffy on most servers (You try organizing 40+ people and only two have voice chat)...but it's not quite bum rush the front either, but you rarely have someone running off in a transport without transporting anyone...

Why make walls when you can disappear INSIDE a wall, or just delete the platform your enemy is standing on, sending them plummeting to their demise?

I remember getting kicked by the host of a JK game because I pointed out the fact that him using a one-hit-kill saber (which he admitted to) was being an *******.

Neither did I. Not in legit games. But I'd go and screw around with the build hacks occasionally.

I was once kicked from a game of JK when some people noticed a 'misplaced conc rifle.' This obviously ment that I was cogging, even though there were about 7 others in the game. :downswords:
