Longest You've Gone Without Brushing Your Teeth?
2007-08-15, 3:50 PM #1
I just realized I've been awake for 4 days straight (Editing a massive project for work), and I just brushed my teeth for the first time. It's disgusting.

(If you were camping, or not reasonably able to obtain a tooth brush, it doesn't count)

No way of knowing, but I don't think it can have been more than six days.

Ew. Am I the only one totally grossed out by this? I feel seriously sick. I usually brush my teeth twice a day, if not 3. I hate missing it once.

4-6 but that was due to dodgy hiking expeditions and conserving chlorine tablets.

Oh and aye it's a boggin' feeling.
nope.

you're supposed to "brush" them?

I have some foggy memories I've missed a day due to exceptional circumstances some time (in the army possibly, or something). But generally speaking I've to brush mine twice a day to feel normal. I indeed feel very abnormal if I try to go to sleep otherwise.

I went a while once after I got to college. I try to do it every day now.

I used to be pretty bad about brushing my teeth, but I started brushing and flossing several times a day a few weeks ago.

About a month once. But then again, I was seriously depressed.

A couple days once, due to a bender weekend. Never again. I HATE not brushing at least twice a day.

Never missed a day! :v:

A day or 2, perhaps, usually due to screwy sleeping habits.

A week or so, while on crazy boat trips without time to brush. At home no more then a day or two.

Two weeks once.

I lost my toothbrush in boot camp when in the field. I just swizzled salt instead.

When at home I brush my teeth at least three times a day though. I'm compulsive about it as long as I have a brush. If I don't, I just ***** about the carpet on my teeth.

Ever? God, I never brushed my teeth as a kid...probably months at a time then. Once I hit high school though I started brushing constantly.

Since then, voluntarily, probably 3 days max.

I only ever do it if I've remembered, *and* I've eaten all I was going to that day. BEcause minty food sucks.

And a lot of last year was me subsiding on infrequent supernoodles and toast.

I can't sleep unless I've brushed my teeth. I loathe the feeling of dirty teeth.

These days with as little sleep as I get, I'm lucky if I get a shower every 2 days, let alone brush my teeth.

Sex > Sleep > Shower > Teeth.

Sad, but true.

:psyduck: That's like saying "no need to bathe if you don't roll in the mud."

Your teeth still decay without regular cleaning, food just introduces more opportunities for plaque.

I have no idea. I'm sure I probably went more than a week when I was a kid. Recently, probably no more than a day, during finals or something.

somehow i don't believe that, considering that we never had to brush our teeth before we adopted our current diet

We HAVE to brush our teeth, now? The only reason we brush our teeth is because our lifespan far outweighs what it used to. Our teeth need to work longer.

Twice a day, baby! I is a clean freak compared to some of you :D But 2 days is the max I've missed when going to stay with friends, getting lashed etc.

We never "had" to do a lot of things. Now that we do, we prolong our good health and our lives. Not brushing your teeth can actually kill you. This is true for before modern diets as well, as shown by fossil evidence. Infected tooth -> infected jaw -> infected body -> dead.

2 days, too sick to get up and walk around, logically, go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. Thats happened at least a couple times to me.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I think I avoided it this time. Maybe. I usually brush my teeth once a day. I don't even use organic toothpaste!

I was going to say something, but I just didn't want to get into it again. It's already obvious.

But I'm blown away that your toothpaste isn't organic!

In the Military, Dental will put you at the top of the list for Medical care.

We had one guy get Medevaced out on a blackhawk because he had an abcessed(sp?) tooth. They said it was life threatening.

An abscess tooth is an infected tooth, which can lead to infection spreading to the jaw, and then on to other parts of the body, which can kill you.
