It was played in real life. Something like "Assassins" where your goal was to kill a target by any means and be as creative as you could, with some certain rules put on you for penalties and whatnot. Some of the ways Jim7 described from the thread I remember were: poking someone in the back of the head, saying "You're poisoned", I think sniping someone with an airsoft gun, and then he went home to find a letter he opened that said "Mail bomb, you lose."

It's really popular in colleges I remember, and Axis tried to start a game of it soon after.

And I forgot the name and want to tell one of my friends about it.

We had a game once at RIT, it was really lame because you couldn't retaliate when being assassinated, and everyone agreed and it never happened again.

We played at my old house. We had a massacre on the edge of campus one day. Five people were killed in a matter of ten minutes with in 100 feet of each other; in sitting in a cafe, another in line at a different cafe and three just on the campus grounds. I got one of the kills. It was pretty epic.

It is possible that Assassin was originally developed in the early years of DePaul University's history. There's strong evidence for and against this possibility, and several other schools make the same claims (With little to no evidence for or against) but I like to pretend we started it.

I had a hand in crafting this year's DePaul assassin game called "DeTag."

I also developed a rooftop operative for my team, allowing us to keep a complete profile on our targets at all time. Watching the Bourne Identity today, I felt like the base operators were me. We even called one of our kills and tricked him into running into the law building where we nabbed him as he entered. There are new rules apparently this game that prevent some of my mastermind plans from being hatched, something that really bothers me, but I know was suggested by the players that we beat. It's a bad time when non-game-design students start voting on rules. Stupid **** that makes the game easier, but less tactical really makes the game suck. I still think only game design students with a decent grasp of game design should have design control over the rules.

CS students played last winter, it was cool. I got pegged going into one of my classes a few days in, before I could find my target. All we got was a picture, a name, and what year they were in, so I had started going to third year classes to try and find him, but was killed before I managed to.

yeah it was superlame at RIT. People just stayed holed up in their rooms, and when they had to come out they walked with other people (there was a no witnesses rule), and they kept changing rules in the middle of the game (our rooms went from being safe-zones to not safe... so people could just barge into your room whenever.)

When we played it on our floor a few years ago at RIT it was really sweet. Mostly because our RA was cool.

As the game goes on though, you have to shrink the safety zones to keep the game moving.

The last time I played, I'd come into class, sit in the back corner of the class room farthest from the door and put my gun on my desk. My professors looked at me a little weird at first.
