First time I've cried in a while

I spoke with my Fiancee very briefly last night.

After a bunch of I love You's and I miss You's, She asked if I remembered her going to sick call back at Bragg and having some tests done (She'd had some tests done for bacteria in her female area after complaining of pain) Well, She got the test results back last night and they think she has cervical cancer.

I haven't cried or smoked this much in a long time. I ended up smoking half a pack before I finally went to sleep.

It's a stupid reason to be upset I guess, But it still hit pretty hard.

Anybody here know anything about cervical cancer or have any experience handling things like this?

Well, I have no experience with cervical cancer, but I'm really sure that this is not a stupid reason to be upset.
Sorry for the lousy German

That's not really a stupid reason to be upset. Heaven forbid you have emotions, soldier. It's unfortunate that you're both in a situation that neither of you can personally interact with each other in the near future.

bos
I was reading about HPV earlier. That was the first thing I thought of.

What scares me is my Ex had cervical cancer and had her uterus removed. I don't know if she had HPV or not, I'm assuming she did, but I hope I didn't give it to my Fiancee. I couldn't live with myself if I found out I was the reason for this.

Edit: I'm supposed to see her tomorrow, if I don't get kicked off the refit schedule.

Unfortunately it's difficult/nearly-impossible to determine if a male has it.

get yourself tested for HPV.

I'm going to try to. But it's a little harder to have done out here. Maybe next time I go back to Camp Taji, or when I go home on leave.

My mother had it a looong time ago -- she's okay now. I was under the impression that it wasn't contagious..

I don't know that much, but I know as long as they get to it soon enough, the only real problem it might cause is difficulty becoming pregnant.

I'm really sorry to hear it.

I don't really know the timeline between you and your fiancee, but I don't think there's been enough time that if you gave her an HPV infection it could develop into cervical cancer. It often takes years between initial infection and cervical changes.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any experience with cervical cancer but I think, like other people said, as long as they catch it in time it should/might be okay.

It's very much NOT a stupid reason to be upset.
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.
