Did anyone see it? I just realized it happened this morning, I thought it was tomorrow morning.

:( I was psyched, but then I set my alarm late and slept in

I guess I'll have to settle for a TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART

I woke up once during the night and saw it when the moon was in Earth's penumbra, then quickly went back to sleep. Wish I could have seen it in the umbra. I've never seen that before.

I watched the moon go from full to completely gone. Clouds rolled in before it had started to reemerge from the earth's shadow, but hopefully a few of the 145 images I took before that will look decent.
It was quite cool just as the last bright patch disappeared the moon looked a lot like Mars.

Aw crap! I completely forgot about this event :( I heard from my sister that Mars was going to be so close that you could see it with the naked eye last night. Looks like I'll have to wait 200 years to see it again :(

...you can always see Mars with the naked eye...unless Mars and Earth are at opposite orbital points. It sounds like your sister got bogus info. You missed that show by 4 years.

The Moon looked pretty awesome, I didn't stay outside to watch the entire thing, but I went out for a cigarette every 45 minutes or so.
