Thinking Back... Moments in JK/MotS
2007-08-29, 5:59 AM #1
I was just thinking back to my JK days (I never got into mots) and had a laugh at some of the times I had.

*remembers spork*

I don't know what is so funny about force pushing someone off a ledge, but you can just picture them saying OMGWTFcrap! as soon as you do it.

*remembers The Knights of Pride*

Good folks in there, sometimes I still wonder what happend to old KOP_AnubisOrr (name could be wrong) he was the only person I could never beat... curses.

how about Adam aka kop_blujay, is he still around these parts? The only person I ever see is KOP_Snake.

*remembers JHS*

Those traps were revolutionary to me, I loved it.

I realize some of you still play, but for those of you like me that don't. Share the memories :P

I remember using the copy gun cog and accurate delete gun to assist in roleplaying. The biggest memories I have from that game were actually RP moments in Whelly's SC inc. and Dralloc H&C. Mostly SC Inc. though, for sure.

Also, roaming through Purgatory for the first time will always be in the foreground when I think back to JK

Even if you have to use spoiler tags, can someone just tell me what happens when you get the treasure map in Drazen Isle and what the treasure is? :P

Since I don't/didn't really give a damn about multiplayer in general (except for Duke 3D, Shadow Warrior and Red Alert back in the day), my fondest JK/MotS memories are related to SP levels (from which the most awesome were MotS levels).

Hell, the only reason why I reinstalled JK and MotS again 2001 after not playing them for 2 years was awesome fan-made SP levels. Of course, when I joined Massassi I found even more awesome levels (AKPiggott's and SavageX's always come up into my mind first).

Those levels will always seem extremely special since similar levels have never been made for other games, even though I guess a lot of games (like HL) would have had better technology for them. But I doubt a level about Gordon Freeman returning to MIT to fight some robots and whatnot couldn't have been as awesome... or maybe yes.

Don't those things spawn randomly? I think they just lead to various secret areas around the map.

Yeah, the maps on drazen lead to various treasures hidden at various locations. People compete to be the first to the map, or the first to the treasure.

some of my fondest and worst memories came from hackers. i remember one time this guy made a variation of the crate gun, only instead of shooting out crates it shot out the valley of the jedi tower from... i cant remember which single player level it was, but yeah, it would instantly take up the whole map and all the players would be smashed against the outside wall.

I remember when a hacker in canyon oasis changed himself into the Valley of the Jedi tower. He couldn't move at all, and his gun was just floating in the air firing randomly.

Holy ****! That's freaking hilarious, turning into the Valley of the Jedi tower.... hahahahahaha, awesome.

I remember I would change my character files so I could have ever force power at the strongest level.

I also enjoyed construction hacks.

I remember that Glowsaber 3.0 was the most amazing mod I had ever seen.

i loved nf saber fights on the zone, raising the mouse sensitivity to maximum in the game (to take advantage of the poor netcode in JK), and trying to get rooms 1-4 on nar shaddaa.

oh yeah, there was also this one casino map someone made. i thought that was the coolest thing ever.

To this day, no MP gaming experience tops Oasis FF in my book.

Good times, good times..

I remember thinking the Big Fluffy Pack was the best thing ever.

Also, endless hours of fun with Manowars 3, Leeza's Destiny, Space Soldiers (I was sad when one of the updated versions got rid of the double barreled shotgun with explosive bullets), and of course being the best NF Sabers player in my clan. Ninja Kage was always fun, and I loved Drazen Isle even though I could never find enough people playing it on the zone.

I miss the days in multiplayer games where fists=peace. And the fast-paced nature of JK, and how you could fight through multiple hits (I'm looking at youCS:S).

Man, you guys make me want to install and play JK again.

In no particular order...

-Joining AOJ and playing in NF Sabers rooms. On dialup I had this common issue where I would charge a player and hit the secondary fire and end up killing them after I was well past them. (Backslash!)

-Participating in the CTF Level Pack judging. Not once had I played JKCTF before but it was so much fun.

-Playing Drazen Isle with a bunch of people for the first time and really just simply exploring. Purgatory was the same way.

-Playing Shred's DBZ3.0 the first time in JHS. Losing my mind as I watched people fly around and do backflips out of the way of my attacks.

-Working with the TDIR team for so long - I wish I was still in touch with most of the crew. That was a really good experience.
2007-08-30, 6:32 AM #22
oh yeah, i thought it weird that you were faster if you ran forward-left or forward-right (as in pressing the forward and left/right strafe keys together). i still do that in games sometimes out of habit.

haha yeah, the BFP2 pack was awesome, though i always used the c-3po skin that came with the game.
2007-08-30, 7:03 AM #23
MAN! I forgot about ninja kage, yeah that was so cool.... mmmm ninjas.

I remember the days of WAR2.0 and Manowars, simple made mods but they were cool mods especially war 2.0 when I was laying down and endless row of mines. I've only posted on massassi maybe 2 or three times but I've been lurking here since January of 2000 when I first got JediKnight. But thanks to these new nvidia drivers I can't run JK in accelerated mode with out it crashing:argh: . But I think the casino level that other guy was referring to is either ceasers palace or the drolloc hotel and casino by Beefcake.

I remember playing Baron's Hed RPG mod alot. To this day...I still wonder why there was an ATM at a bandit's hideout.

Purgatory map's maze can go straight to hell.

I remember playing TPMTC with Darth J, Slade, The Jackal, and Demon Nightmare. My favourite level was Beggar's Canyon. We had modified the force powers to be done multiple times if you hit the force button repeatedly after the first time (e.g. continuous lightning bolts.) Well, we used to force push each other across the level, and if you recall the level, that is pretty damn far.

I remember first playing SBX 3.1 and using a dual saber to p0wn everyone at BGJ...until I got kicked.

I remember playing Phoenix Suburban City on the Zone with, if I am correct, Mega_ZZTer back before I joined here and Whelly.

I also remember some of my favorite mods like SBX 3.1, GCW, FR, KWP, EWP and levels like Caesars Palace, JHS, Manticeville, and SMHQ.

I wish I could still play JK MP, but not any more on my new computer, and I'm not sure why. Would it be better to post my problem in the tech forum?

I remember hating the NFS game craze... I was a FFG fan.

Drazen Isle for the first time with a FULL (I mean FULL) group.

Canyon Oasis dial-up from the demo.

Purgatory secret runs

the ZONE.

Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

The most vivid memory I have is getting up at five in the morning on Saturdays, playing the demo multiplayer. That and Baron's Hed RPG. And, of course, JHS.

Underground Resistance. I remember it so well, what with me being the first member (that stuck with it for more than 2 days). And the Baron's Hed RPG SWAT "training" Kirby tried to run. Yeah, they didn't work.

I sorta kinda miss UR, except for the whole "not really functioning or accomplishing anything that the public could see" part.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Hah, I remember when Drazen was first released, there were no-aggression games devoted to exploring.
